Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to The Crypt Keeper. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
The Crypt , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I have worked on is my new YouTube channel as a whole. At this time I plan on giving it the name, “Crypt Keeper’s Vault”. I decided to make it a overall hub for what is related to my page but in video media form. Everything from longer clips of shows I’ve recorded, what others have submitted to me for documentation, studio sessions, and possibly interviews.
Realizing Instagram has really limited me to what I want to accomplish I felt this would be an amazing way to expand my page and hopefully with getting into the video documentation aspect of the Carolina music scene, I can turn that into something that is appreciated and collaborate with people in the realm of videography locally.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
What I attempt to focus on is introducing people to bands across the Carolina’s but I do focus mainly on Charlotte just for the fact it has been easier to work around my home city. While doing this I became nearly obsessed with generally documenting the scene. Everywhere from old concert flyers, my Black Flag project where I talk about their time here, venue’s history, and just sharing stuff bands send me. Stuff on my page is mainly submitted when I contact bands about upcoming shows and some stuff is just interesting miscellaneous pictures I think my followers would like. There is so much more to come and I hope to keep meeting new people and collaborating with them.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Some resources I feel really helped me stay motivated to keep doing the page and putting time into it is consuming media that inspires what I do. I have a decent collection of music related books, some autobiography and some coffee table style books where the pictures are the main focus. These along with recorded concerts I have on DVD/VHS or saved online has inspired me to really want to have a hub where people can be brand new or seasoned in the scene and still explore how much creativity is out there. Some recommendations of mine is , Cannibal Corpse’s Centuries of Torment, Until The Light Takes Us, VH1 Driven OutKast, The Dirt by Motley Crue (more so the book), N.Y.H.C., and podcasts such as The Jasta Show, No F’n Regrets, The Garza Podcast, and 2016-2019 No Jumper interviews.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Maintaining high morale is the most important thing to anything you have dedication for. If there’s any artist or someone wanting to touch into their creative side lots of times, especially in music, one struggle is likely mental health. It can be so easy to become unmotivated and be stuck there which is at the same time very stressful. I made sure that my page would not turn into what would feel like a job. I have personally witnessed very talented musicians become unmotivated and lose touch with their craft because they turned it into something they do for capital gain rather than for their own enjoyment.
Taking breaks and really taking the time to appreciate what you’re doing is worth it from what I have witnessed in my musician friends. I have so much appreciation for shows I’ve been to and can tell the band is enjoying it more than me as a fan. People use music as an escape for life’s problems. Don’t make it or any other art media what you’re trying to escape as fan or a creative.
