Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to The Bluebell Smile . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi The Bluebell Smile , thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
We all started with the desire to learn how to conduct a great rock show. By playing our favorite covers, new age and classic we learned what it means to be in a real band together. The consistently and unanimously applied pressure to be as tight as was feasible led to the creation of some great original music and once that happened we had no choice but to treat the music as seriously as it deserved.
Each member of the Bluebell Smile has their own way of defining success in music but I think a seriously defining moment in our journey thus far was the first time we played the Whisky A Go Go. Not only was it a step up in venue size and capacity but the recognition we received from industry professionals such as Patrick Olguin and Bruce Flohr right after the show illustrated to us that we had something significant to share with the world.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The Bluebell Smile is a band dedicated to creating and sharing music that comes from the heart. Of course like many other modern Rock/pop bands we deliver as entertaining of a show as possible. But our first and for-most priority is authenticity on stage and off. So much entertainment is about short bursts of engagement and viewership and although we do offer an ear worm hook or two in our music we are always striving for greater things.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our goal is to create authentic sonic spaces fueled by rigor, passion and raw emotion, this way our music can have a variety of effects. The value of music for us comes in many colors whether that be happy, sad, groovy, sexy, or angry– each emotion has its place in humanity. We want to help people delve into any or all of the feelings they experience while listening.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
We love to play live. Our recordings are our heart and we put everything we’ve got into them, but performing will always be where our souls shines through. The variation of feelings that comes through is what makes the music special every time and seeing the different ways different audiences react and feel the music with us is the biggest joy we could ask for.
