We recently connected with Thato Malapile and have shared our conversation below.
Thato, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Learned music through a very good friend of mine from a young age of around 12 years when he installed the program(FL Studio) into my PC, he had asked me to borrow him. And then like that, he taught me how to use it to make music and then I took over and started learning for myself.
At the point that I am I wish I could’ve invested more time into the theory to balance out with the practical skills as well, because believe me I a very good..
Of course even with that knowledge I did manage to up my game more that i thought could. With my production, mixing and mastering skills being up to industry standard I managed to get my self a little bit of recognition.
And well to balance life as a young adult with the thing that you want can sometimes be difficult, I believe it needs someone with a strong mind. Developing that is really helping working well for me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a young aspired music producer going by Yung T Beatz who officially got into the music industry around. 2017, with some experience gained from a couple of years before. And as you know when you first start out you have to try out different kinds of styles of music from Hip Hop to EDM, until you find the one/s that go well with your personality which I feel plays a huge role in the kind of music you make.
As a music producer I make beats, mix and master songs, I do coordinate artists as well to kind of get the best out of them. With my skills and years of experience I provide industry standard quality with songs.
I’m proud of how far I made it, though I still wanna grow however at this point I am proud because I am able to prove myself to people who have not heard of me before, that I am “that good”

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding part is finishing a project you’ve been planning in your head in real life. Also the fact that music is like therapy to most of us so just being a part it it’s more than enough.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
As easy as it may seem to a non creative that anyone can just “make it” in the industry, the reality is that it’s not. There’s way many aspects you have to look at when you release and try to promote yourself as an artist, also looking at how different peoples environments can impact them in their journey. We try to keep ourselves from not giving up and keeping a positive mindset about everything, that can really help.
