Tharren, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
The biggest challenge within the Private Chef / Catering Industry is the inconsistent fluctuation of product pricing variables. In a competitive Industry as such, there are certain factors that can grant vendors an edge over competitors which include Exterior styling, marketing strategies and the most important high quality food product. A Private Chef / Caterer who can successfully acquire high quality food product on a regular cycle must be very strategic in service pricing to create a profitable revenue margin.
This strategy absolutely increases the quality of a business, but creates difficulties when Competing against other vendors who bypass acquiring high quality ingredients to implement inexpensive cost for goods and services, which overall saturates the market value of the private chef industry and make it difficult for Companies who value quality over quantity and can sometimes box them into only servicing a certain group of consumers.
My first 3 years of operation was filled with trial and error applying different formulas of operation. I was either compromising my quality to please the masses or missing business by over pricing proposals to incorporate the best product. Since then I have perfected my model formula to create a competitive pricing margin that produces a very positive net revenue while still incorporating high quality ingredients that has lead to the ongoing growth of Top Floor Cuisines.

I am a southern bred chef with vast training in World cuisine that will amaze and entice you from start to finish. My love and passion for cooking is derived from the happiness and joy clients receive from my services. I have always strived to be the very best in all aspects of my life and career by becoming one of the best Chefs the Coastal South region has to offer. I have spent my career thus far expanding my knowledge of world cuisines and food safety. I guarantee, a dining experience from Top Floor Cuisines will be much more than a meal, I am here to provide nothing but the best because you absolutely deserve it!


Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I have always prided myself on my level of determination and resilience utilized in not only my business but life in general. There will always be locked doors or bumps in the road on your journey, but you must not shy away from moments like those. This is where you find out exactly what you are willing to do stay the course to reach your full potential.
6 months ago I was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, which is an unexplained episode of facial muscle weakness or paralysis. My symptoms have gotten better with time and therapy, but are still in existence. Not only is it a physical hardship, but a mental burden as well. What sets me apart the most in my industry is my ability to provide a full experience for my clients from my engaging conversation, bright aura and attitude, welcoming smile, and overall ability to host a party.
Having Bells Palsy has inhibited all the listed attributes that embody who I am as a person , Chef & Business owner. Imagine not being able to smile, speak with impediments, blink on your own and just overall having control over your facial attributes. For a while it caused a tremendous amount of depression, but along that journey I had to remember that this does not define me. I am still who I was before this symptom, and that there are so many people who are inspired by me. I have to stay determined and resilient for them, my family and most importantly for myself. My journey will not end at this bump in the road.


Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my Business Partner, Wife and Mother to my beautiful daughter at an entrepreneur pop up event doing what we both love. She was operating her Mobile cocktail company & I was providing catering services. We met, fell in love and have been joined at the hip ever since.
I have always wanted to build a life with a like minded individual who sees the bigger picture and is willing to put forth the time and work ethic to create a beautiful future filled with endless opportunity. I am truly thankful for her being apart of my life and journey. Having a supportive partner is good, but having a partner willing to put forth the same amount of work is amazing.
