We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tha Sage. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tha below.
Tha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Sometime in life we are faced with adversities. They can either pull you under the tide and drown out your spirit or present an opportunity; depending on your perception. With all opportunity though, comes with risk involved. When Covid hit the world like a plauge it affected every aspect of everyones life including my own. Had a great job, beautiful home and what I had thought was the ideoloy of having security in life. 2020 shattered absolutely every facet of that idea as I lost my job, my house and the life that came with the pre-covid world. I was confronted with a crossroad; either drownd and spiral downward, or take a risk.
I purdged everything and obtained a travel trailer; figured this moment in life even though seemed dark and hopeless, was the opportunity to evolve as a creator and do it fulltime. Here it was; take a blind leap or drownd…sink or swim. I packed up was little posscesions I still had and hit the road. The rest is history and here we are today as Tha Sage.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who dont know, I am the artist Tha Sage. Those already familiar mainly know me through my music as a rapper and music producer, but I do express myself through many mediums such as: clothing design, digital art, writer, photographer, culinary and community activism. Once i lost it all i gained everything. What sets me apart from the rest of the world is my supreme ability to be origional and raw. Everything I produce and express is one off and can never be produced again, Truly feels what I create is from the stars, thus my production company FromThaStars was born and encompasses all my facets under one name.
Inspriration is what I strive to envoke, helping people overcome and stay inspired for a greater tomorrow regardless of what were going through as an individual or on the collective level.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Creativity is in everything; for existance is creation and is constantly being expressed. Expression is what seperates us all and I believe those who may not understand my journey are the same individuals who are creativley and or expressivly blocked. When you live in the flow of inspired creation, you are continueously reinventing and evolving yourself. You are the sculpture and the sculptor.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is helping others stay inspired and overcome personal dogmas. Art saved my life, when I felt like the world wasnt hearing or feeling me; it gave me mediums to be able to communicate that. Inspiring others who feel the same and my art is the catalyst for their evolution…thats the ultimate reward.
