We were lucky to catch up with Tezz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tezz, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
For one I’d say to have a clear goal and a strong vision. You have to know exactly what it is you’re trying to achieve and have a clear sense of your goals. Hard work and persistence is what’s going to help you achieve those set goals and help you fulfill your vision. Continuous learning and Self- improvement is what drives me to be great at what I do every day. This world changes every day and there’s always going to be curve balls thrown your way so being resilient and adaptability are some key traits to have in order to become successful. Last but not least you have to have a strong work ethic and discipline. This is what I’ve come to realize on my journey of trying to become as successful as I can be.
Tezz, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My professional videography business (Shotbytezz LLC) involves creating high-quality videos for clients for various purposes, such as Music Videos, weddings, events, corporate videos, promotional videos, and more. Ever since they made the first iPod touch with the cameras on the front and the back I started recording. I didn’t pick up an actual camera until about 2016. Once I figured out about software like Final Cut and Adobe Premiere I started to realize this was something I can make an actual career out of. The first video I ever shot I stayed up until about 5 in the morning editing it non-stop. That’s when I knew this was something I was passionate about and wanted to pursue. As the years went on and I continued to learn more and more every day I started developing my style. I’m very much into the cinematic style of filming than anything. I grew up around some very talented people and I always felt like the more professional I can make my videos look the more I can shine a light on my friends around me who are very talented at what they do. Whether it’s sports or music, I always wanted to help shine a light and I feel like with my videos I have the power to do so. I’m proud of how far I’ve come but I also know I’m nowhere near where I want to be and that’s what keeps my drive going.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I believe in keeping everything organic and building up your reputation in the world just by being a good person and doing good business. If you do those two things and let your work speak for itself, everything else will fall into place and you’ll attract the crowd/energy you’d want.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I lost my dad a year before I started learning about running my own business. He was an entrepreneur his whole life and he would give me life gems every day. Being young you don’t necessarily pay attention or quite understand what your parents try to teach you but luckily most of the stuff he tried to teach me stuck with me. Now that I’m running my own business, everything he taught me kind of pops into my head and makes more and more sense. I definitely feel like if he was still here I would be in a completely different position than I am, however he also taught me that if I needed answers in life to go out and find them myself. He was never the type to just give me all the answers, he would make me go out and do my own research. That taught me to never be dependent on anything and it gave me a certain strength that I’m appreciative for. If you’re reading this and you have both of your parents, listen to them. They’re only trying to help and they genuinely want what’s best for you no matter what. It may seem like they’re nagging or bugging you but in the long run you’ll see it’s all love. So cherish them now before it’s too late.
