Teyama, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.

GirlzWantGirlz is an event company I developed to cater to the LGBTQIA community solely. As we all know our community has quite a push back when it comes to being in safe spaces and being about to express our self’s freely, and have a good time. GirlzWantGirlz is an outlet for the community to come out celebrate major holidays, I.E. Halloween, valentines day, pride, surrounded by our own community. Every event is different but in the end hold the same standard. Our event are still open to those of the hetero family who still love us and support us. With that being said we still take percussion and uphold our promise to create a safe space.

when were we founded: June 2022 first event was PRIDE KICK OFF
what kind of events: An affordable safe space catered strictly to the LGBTQIA community to celebrate our common/ favorite holidays ( PRIDE , VALENTINES, HALLOWEEN,) we are expanding, we have now added LABOR DAY kick off and SUNDAY FUNDAY BRUNCHES. ALL events are themed.
where : we are hosted in Houston
why were were founded: i am a hetero presenting lesbian who was tired of not being able to fully have a good gay time in hetero club scenes ! so i created an event space for that !
what to expect at our events: exotic HOOKAH| FOOD | BYOB ( depending on venue) | VENDORS| LIVE LGBT PERFORMANCES or ENTERTAINMENT | LIVE DJ/MC| AFFORDABLE SECTIONS/TABLES| WELL KNOWN LGBT HOST AND LGBT ONLY !
what makes us different ? we understand what FUN is ! its not paying $600 to sit in a busted up section with horrible service, burnt hookah , Randoms trying to hit on you with your spouse ! NO DRAMA NO ANTICS NO SCAMS just VIBES, GOOD MUSIC, GOOD DRINKS, BEST HOOKAH IN HOUSTON, AND OUR COMMUNITY !
WE ARENT GAY FOR JUST A MONTH WERE GAY ALL YEAR LONG ! SO LETS CELEBRATE TOGETHER

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

My reputation was build off honesty, and being relatable. It is possible for a hetero presenting woman to look good and date strictly women. In addition to staying consistent and building relationships!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Due to our business still growing, it is a challenge to pull people form their normal outing spots, Although I am not in competition with anyone, Bein the “new kid on the block ” Can but a strain on wanting to keep going especially because These events are not cheap! However, I keep going and stay consistent with brining them to the community. In addition to making it something to look forward too.
