We recently connected with TEY BOOGIE and have shared our conversation below.

TEY , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

My whole reasoning behind making music came from a personal situation that I was going through back in Richmond, VA that I wanted to change but my biggest mistake came from just up and leaving for Houston without a real plan set. It took me a good 2 years to even drop my first project and even then I still had a lot to learn about the business, I look back now 10 years later on the brink of releasing my 8th album and just look at my growth, the knowledge I’ve gained, and the patience it took for me to get here.

TEY , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For those who don’t know me I’m Tey Boogie originally from Richmond, VA but now I currently reside in Houston, TX. I make music and I have my own brand called “ Dear Summer “. While at the moment I currently am only dealing with the music side of things my brand also dabbled into the field of cooking and fashion as well.

I feel what sets me apart of my drive, I don’t receive a lot of love and support from my peers but that never deterred my ambition for the love of what I do. I’m most proud of the fact that even with all the barriers that have stood in front me along the way I never gave up and always remain consistent.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was things happen how you want them to. I can take that from the fact that I just knew when I came to Houston and dropped my first project then all the hard work was done and I was going to get the red carpet treatment.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

Right now I don’t have any real major capital but I will say when it comes down to the funding of the beats I use and studio time I’m solely responsible for those things and have been the driving force since the beginning.
