Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tevin “DapYP” Agnello. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tevin “DapYP” , appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I believe this was always something I naturally had in me. Of course I picked up skills along the way in church when I was younger.
Learning how to arrange and produce really helped make music in general gel for me.
When I was younger the biggest obstacle was resources. Growing in a small town in North Carolina, most viewed music as a hobby.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I worked my way into the industry. I was fed up with working in textile mills back home so I bought a one way to south Florida. I would take the train to Miami often and song-write in different studios.
I am most proud of my growth as person and as an artist. My music continues to get better, it is full of substance. And my love for other things like fashion and film are all starting to blend into the mix.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal is to have world renowned music and work and the mission like always is to inspire the next creatives to come.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of the journey is at shows hearing the crowd sing my lyrics back to me. It lights me up inside. Motivates me to never stop because even when I feel the opposite, people are listening.
