Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tetonia Blossom. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tetonia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
At Regarding You, we approach mindfulness differently from the conventional energy standards of the industry. Rather than coaching people to eliminate stress—which is often a futile effort given that stress and anxiety are natural parts of life—we focus on acknowledging these realities. We understand that stressors are a constant, hence, our brand is built around adapting to and managing these conditions effectively. For instance, our products like the self-care affirmation deck are designed to integrate seamlessly into daily routines. These affirmation cards come in a keepsake box easily carried in a briefcase or purse, allowing individuals to engage in positive reflections even during a busy morning coffee break. We also offer shower affirmations to boost positivity while preparing for the day. Our philosophy is about finding moments of mindfulness within the existing daily schedule without adding pressure or guilt over unmet self-imposed expectations. This approach helps our users to harness moments of calm without disrupting their day, making our method uniquely practical and deeply respectful of individual lifestyles and challenges.
Tetonia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Absolutely! Allow me to introduce myself and Regarding You, my passion project dedicated to fostering mindfulness, self-compassion, and holistic well-being.
My name is Tetonia Blossom and my journey into the world of mindfulness and self-care stems from a deeply personal experience. After landing my dream job years ahead of schedule, I found myself grappling with overwhelming responsibilities and relentless pressure. Despite achieving professional success, the toll on my mental and physical health became undeniable. It was a wake-up call that led me to explore mindfulness as a transformative tool for navigating life’s challenges with grace and resilience.
Driven by a desire to share these life-changing practices with others, I founded Regarding You. Our brand offers a range of products and services crafted to empower individuals on their journey toward well-being. From curated affirmation card sets and guided journal prompts to transformative vision board books and immersive experiences like vision board parties and guided meditations, Regarding You is a sanctuary for those seeking refuge from life’s chaos.
At Regarding You, we address the common struggles faced by our clients, including stress, anxiety, and burnout, by providing practical tools for self-care and introspection. Our products serve as reminders to prioritize self-compassion and mindfulness in daily life, fostering moments of calm and clarity amidst the hustle and bustle.
What sets Regarding You apart is our commitment to meeting individuals where they are on their wellness journey. Unlike approaches that advocate for the elimination of stress, we embrace life’s challenges and offer practical strategies for managing them with compassion and resilience. Our products are designed to seamlessly integrate into daily life, empowering individuals to reclaim control over their mental and emotional well-being.
I am most proud of the positive impact Regarding You has had on the lives of our customers. Hearing their stories of transformation and witnessing their journey toward self-discovery reaffirms the importance of our mission. Ultimately, I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that Regarding You is more than just a brand—it’s a beacon of hope, a sanctuary for self-care, and a companion on the path to holistic well-being.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What really helped me build my reputation within the mindfulness and self-care market was my deep commitment to understanding the roots and formal practices of mindfulness. My journey began with personal exploration, but I knew that to make a meaningful impact, I needed a solid foundation. So, I pursued not just my MBSR certification but also achieved certification in workplace facilitation.
Being a Mindfulness ERN leader for a financial institution and presenting workshops on mindful living for corporations and non-profits expanded my experience and credibility. Additionally, my role on a mindfulness advisory council has connected me with the forefront of mindfulness research and practice, which informs the development of my products and services.
This comprehensive background in both the theory and practical application of mindfulness, combined with sharing my personal story and struggles, resonated deeply with my audience. I offered them not just products but a real understanding and practical methods to integrate mindfulness into their hectic lives. This approach of blending personal authenticity with professional expertise and real-world solutions has been key to building my reputation in the market.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A significant lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that more hours worked equals more productivity and success. Early in my career, especially during that intense period when I was managing issues for large financial institutions, I operated under the belief that the only way to prove my worth and capability was through long hours and constant availability. This mindset led me to work upwards of 70 hours a week, sacrificing my health, my relationships, and my well-being.
The turning point came after I received a prestigious award and realized that despite my professional success, my personal life was in disarray. I was overweight, battling depression, and my family life was suffering. This was when I understood that my worth isn’t measured by the hours I put in at work but by the quality of the work and the life I lead outside of it.
Unlearning this lesson wasn’t easy, but mindfulness helped me shift my focus from quantity to quality—both in my work and in my self-care practices. This realization not only transformed my approach to work but also inspired the ethos behind Regarding You, encouraging others to find balance and prioritize well-being without succumbing to the pressures of overwork.
