We were lucky to catch up with Terry Ware Sr recently and have shared our conversation below.

Terry, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

I believe that setting yourself, or company, a part from others helps you to be even more successful.

Starting out I was determined to keep the cost of publishing as low as possible in order to set us a part from other companies. However, even in that there was still something else that was constantly on my mind, another way to set us a part from other companies. That way was to become a resource to other people in helping them to become not just published, but Self-Published, creating Entrepreneurship. So we decided to make B.O.S.S. Publishing a self publishing company. Our services include editing, formatting, designing book covers, and I will walk you through the self publishing process from beginning to end, showing you what to do every step of the way.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am Terry L. Ware Sr. I am a Husband, Father, Actor, Author, Publisher, Motivational Speaker, and Editor. But most of all, I am a Man of God!

How I got into the industry of publishing was that I saw a need and I was intrigued as to what I could do to become a solution. After publishing my first book with a company, I was very impressed with how the professionalism of the publisher. With it being my first time, he made sure I was comfortable through ever phase. Now, I can remember first searching for a publisher but the prices were just really up there and I became so challenged until I almost did not want to continue with the process. The first person I went with took all my money and simply left me with a google document with all of my poems compiled in it, which was of no use to me. So at the point of almost giving up, I came across a really great company as I mentioned above. So after that great experience I decided I wanted to be a help to those that were looking for publishing companies to publisher their work. One thing I decided to do was to make the cost of publishing affordable for those that had the desire but maybe were a bit challenged as I was with the cost. So I prayed to God and asked him what could I call this company I had the desire to start. I was driving one day and He told me to call it B.O.S.S. I immediately pulled over and wrote it down and then asked, “Lord, what in the world could that mean”lol. He told me to take it home and show my wife and we would come up with the meaning. So, we came up with Building Opportunities Stirring Success. Which simply means being willing to reach out and help any and everyone while encouraging them to turn around and do the same.

Some of the problems that I solve for my clients is to make sure that their manuscript is formatted professionally as well as the editing. If they need a book cover, I also help them with that. It may sound strange but we charge our clients accordingly to their word count when they first send us their manuscript. What I also do is to make sure I am listening to the client for their needs as well as being able to get them the information they may need.

What sets us a part from other companies is our dedication to making sure we help you out out the best possible final product of your book. Making sure that everything is set up just the way you want it and that it is a quality product for your readers to enjoy.

What we are most proud of is being Blessed to help so many to become Self-Published Authors, and even more so, to be able to help their dreams come to life.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

The best source of new clients for us has been by word of mouth. It was a true Blessing to gain a client about a month ago that stated that she found us on google.. That was incredible…😊

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I think with any business there will come a time when you will need to stop and take a look at what you can do better or maybe different that will help you to be more and more successful. For us, changing our name, we’ll really just coming up with a name that would be the umbrella for the company and have different DBAs (Doing business as) we felt like this would help us to grow more and more and allow different opportunities for us to help others even more. We revamped our company which is now, B.O.S.S. & Company, LLC. With now 4 DBAs: B.O.S.S. Publishing, B.O.S.S. Clothing and Apparel, B.O.S.S. Productions, and B.O.S.S. Talk.
