Alright, Terrina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.

Hello, Ill start by introducing myself. My name is Terrina James and I am the owner of Best Girl Essentials. Best Girl is a vegan skincare line that is herbal infused to promote skin healing on a cellular level. I started my skincare business in 2019 in my kitchen basically. I would hand make each product at home with vegan ingredients and post them online. Which is how most of my products were sold by either word of mouth or just by posting them to my social media accounts. I would receive several direct messages of people wanting to try the products and it just kept growing. It grew so much that I was unable to keep up. So in 2021, a great mentor of mine referred me to Sabrina to get a website done and other things such a graphic designs for my product labels. During our very first conversation, I knew that Sabrina would be the perfect person to get the job done. All i did was explain to her an idea I had for my business, website and products. She absolutely delivered with perfection. The website, product labels and everything was soo amazing and original I literally shed happy tears. Today, my business is upscaled so much that I truly believe that my products will be sold in local Targets in the near future. All thanks be to Sabrina. She’s amazing!!!

Hello, my name is Terrina James and I am the owner of Best Girl Essentials. I am also a Registered Nurse and Mom. Best Girl Essentials is a vegan skincare line that helps vegans by offering Herbal infused skincare products that promote healthy glowing skin without any toxic ingredients

I spent most of my childhood and young adult years struggling with many different chronic issues. By the age of 25, I was diagnosed with allergies, migraines, eczema, psoriasis, GERD, and IBS so I decided to become vegan. The vegan lifestyle began to miraculously fade away my chronic issues.

However, things such as finding vegan hair care, skin care, and other essential household items that fit my new lifestyle were difficult.

After years of experience in my career as a Registered Nurse, and a new lifestyle as a vegan
I began devoting my time to create cruelty free, safe, and healthy essential products for myself and my daughter. Products that are formulated specifically to help Heal and Restore.

After seeing the results of how these products truly restored our hair and skin, I decided to share my special formula with the world through Best Girl Essentials.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

I keep in touch with my clients through email and my business social media pages. Through email I am able to create a more personable relationships with my clients. I am able to answer their questions thoroughly and more efficiently than I would through social media. I am also able to give my VIP subscribers first dibs on sales. I absolutely love keeping in touch with my clients through email. It gives me more 1 on 1 time with them.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

In 2020, I honestly had to shut down my business temporarily due to the pandemic. I couldnt get shipments or go into whole food stores to stock on supply, So i devoted my time to become a travel nurse and save lives. Running a business by myself during that time was a struggle, but in 2021 I reopened and upscaled my brand with the help of Sabrina and my business mentor. Without them, Best Girl Essentials truly would not be the well operated business it is today.
