Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Terri M. Bolds Wilkinson-Hill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Terri, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Bold Visions Consulting, LLC was established to help educate the community about mental health with an emphasis on self-esteem and self-empowerment. My business is my testimony as to how I’ve lived and continuously work through the challenges and joys of life. Each aspect of my work has a personal touch and thank God for using me for this work.

Terri, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I received both my master’s and bachelor’s degree from Wright State University in Dayton,Ohio. While interning, I knew being a therapist that sits in their office seeing client after client was not going to work for me. But then I was introduced to group work and I love it. Each and every job I obtained post-graduate school was a bust and completely unfulfilling. I’ve worked on all aspects of the mental health spectrum. One day my uncle told me that I was wasting my degree. I sat on his words for a while and decided it was time that I create a way for my talent, experience and education to help the world! And that is how Bold Visions Consulting, LLC started. Under the umbrella of the services I offer the main thing that sets me apart and peaks interest is being an author. My books are based on mental health related ideals such as , self-empowerment, self-reflection, forgiveness, bullying and love. I also have positive message shirts.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
While I was in graduate school, I developed epilepsy. At the time I was working toward a fellowship on campus so that I could get funding for my degree. I was more than busy during that time. My family complained about not being able to reach me, but I had a plan. That plan ended in July 2005. Once I had my first grand mal seizure, I couldn’t drive, lost the job leading to my fellowship and was having trouble with my cognitive functioning and I almost dropped out of school. But I didn’t and now I am a self-published author, therapist and business owner! I fought for my life and I still do daily.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was putting expectations on people that they are unwilling or unable to fulfill those expectations. We are humans and are subject to disappoint. Only for me, the disappointment was earth shattering because I wanted so much for things to be a certain way, rather than just accepting people and situations for who and what they were.
