We recently connected with Terri Fiori and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Terri thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
One of the biggest trends that we see today is that clients are asking to use more one of a kind pieces in their homes. Whether we find these pieces for them or the own a piece that has been with them for generations. We are using a lot of hand carved and hand-crafted pieces that lend a unique touch to every space that we design. We are also seeing more clients ask to showcase their collections, be it antique perfume bottles or a collection of family photos. Collections make each space very personal …and meaningful. We recently designed a living and dining room for a client whose father had created one of a kind frames for family photos. We displayed them in a grouping above a more transitional styled table – the old and new compliment each other and tell a story of the family’s history.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our mission is to bring a unique, one of a kind design experience to every single project. I’d say that TRUST is what drives our creative journey. It’s when a client puts their full trust in us that they benefit from the most creatively designed spaces. This trust allows us to do our best work – it’s energizing and our clients benefit greatly from putting their trust in us.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My business is about 90A% referrals, so I would say the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is ensuring that my clients are 110% happy in their homes. This means recommending furnishings that are well made and worry-free. This brings peace of mind to my clients….and in turn to my firm. Most people are surprised to learn that interior design is only about 20% creative – the rest of the business is the “daily grind” of running the business! It means constant following up with vendors and consistent communication with clients – even if you don’t anything new to report, it’s important to reach out and let them know where we are in the process.
