We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Terrelya Hoskins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Terrelya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to educate as many people about health and nutrition as possible. The story came from a personal experience dealing with the medical industry. I had a non-COVID medical issue that the medical industry had no clue or interest in finding out what was going on. All they wanted to do was prescribe the symptoms away.
I had to do my own research, trial and error, and holistic healing to figure out what was going on. I went to school and learned a great deal of ways to heal using food instead of going straight to Western medicine.
Terrelya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Holistic Nutritionist and Radio Show Host and Media Personality for 98.5 Satellite Radio. I got into the industry when I developed a passion for Nutrition after experiencing my own health and healing journey. It has become very clear that the medical industry is one big guessing game…and a lot of the time, they are guessing wrong. The main reasons being is they are way more interested in prescribing to assist with the symptoms instead of getting to the root of the problem.
I provide 1-on-1 Nutrition coaching, meal plans, grocery or plant growing assistance, education, blogs, books, and The Travelling Vegan series. I want to assist as many people as possible become educated about the relationship between food and their body. How food plays a part in so many different (mental) health issues including: Stress, anxiety, depression, blood sugar, hypertension, different types of cancer, fertility, and much more. Doing so allows people to naturally heal from within using food and herbs rather than long-term medication and expensive procedures while realizing you don’t have to eat rabbit food to make it happen.
I am most proud of my healing journey, finishing school, and able to help my clients become a better version of themselves. I love being able to interview different influencers and artists on my radio show to give them some press, as well as developing my media skills for when I begin to interview people in person. I am also proud of my recent decision to move down to Arizona. Doing so will allow me to expand my clientele to that area and become closer to clients residing in Southern California and the Las Vegas area.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
At first, I wasn’t good on social media in terms of growing my following.
However, after talking with my 18-year-old daughter, I asked her if she would take me seriously if she saw an account with just 200 followers. She said, “no”.
So I began to learn about how turning my account into a Creator account instead of business to allow popular creator music, developed better hashtags, posted creative memes to catch audience attention, and also began advertising my show/page(s).
I’m also working on finding sponsors, partnerships, and collabs so that I can expand into becoming a brand ambassador for different companies.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Lately, I have been growing my clientele by sharing my services as more than just a Nutritionist. I do more than just giving meal plans and helping people with weight management. I also educate on women’s health, mental health, men’s health, education, and vegetarian/vegan diet. I also let people know that my goal is for people to learn enough to where they won’t need me in the long run.
Doing so has people interested in my services.
