SubscribeAlright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Terrell Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Terrell thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
My story starts from 2011, I had a huge love for music and started to DJ. My DJ name was DJBboyJones. I did a good amount of DJing but couldn’t get any traction as a DJ. I didn’t want to do clubs. I just wanted to do private events. I started working in construction and going to college full time for Multimedia. At the time DJing had slowed down and I started to produce my own music. I expanded the DJing company and called it Asphalt Studios in 2016. The name came form working in construction. I did concrete and asphalt work. I wanted to call the company Street Studios but wanted to appeal to the masses, not just my roots. Thats where Asphalt came in. I felt that it was a good way to keep the name street with out sounding ghetto. I also planned to expand more after college, there fore I added the “s” on studios to showcase that my company will have a multitude of different branches. I finally legalized my company this year. Asphalt Studios LLC is a company that offers a ton of services, We offer; photography, videography, drone service, brand development, and all multimedia needs such as Graphics production. With all that we offer, I figured that the love of the art forms will help me grow and expand more. During this time I also started TLN Creative Corner. Its an online store that sells hand crafted jewelry and other home goods. This Idea came from wanting to support my wife in what she wanted to do and to keep my creativity flowing. I started with earrings and now create rings and other cool home items like coaster sets. I wanted to be able to give my wife the ring of her dreams and figured I could make it myself. Success is subjective but I feel that I have been successful and I knew that with all the things I can do I just need to get it out in the world and put my best foot forward to become more successful.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Terrell Jones. I am 28 years old and graduated from college in 2020 with a Bachelor degree in Digital media/ Multimedia. I am the owner of both Asphalt Studios LLC and TLN Creative Corner. I’m also an Eagle Scout. Asphalt Studios Started off as DJ Bboy Jones. I have been DJing for over ten years. During that time, I changed my name and created a company. I went to college and learned about photography and fell in love with the art. So the new name is Asphalt Studios. when creating that name I added the “s” to showcase I would have different branches of service. I also learned about graphics and website designing. I offer all of those as services under Asphalt Studios. TLN Creative Corner, was created in 2017. I started it for my Wife and I. We sell products online. I created the name from our first initials, T is for Terrell. L is for Levi our son. and N is for Nicole. We added Creative Corner to symbolize us three working out of a corner of our home. We create a lot of different things from jewelry to candles and other home goods.
How you got into your industry / business / discipline / craft etc?
I started my journey as a DJ. I DJ’d for my High school and started doing all kinda of events. For example’ I DJ’d Sandalwood High School’s Bon fire and Home coming dance, I did Mayport middle school’s Talent show, and DJ’d a couple of weddings over the years. I wanted to expand to creating music, so I changed names from DJ Bboy Jones to Asphalt Studios. To date, I have released three songs under my label Asphalt Studios and plan to release another song by the end of 2023. I then added photography to my business in 2021. After taking my first photography class in college, I fell in love with it and wanted to make a career of it. That was the first step in expanding Asphalt Studios LLC. I started to share photos that I had taken. Some being of items I created for TLN Creative Corner. One of my friends saw my photos and asked if I was able to do a wedding for them Last minute. I informed them that I would love to but it was going to be my first wedding event, That is how I got into wedding photography. Since then, I have done two wedding photography events and wish to do more. With the expansion of Asphalt Studios, We offer drone services, graphic designing, and website designing as well as brand development. We have helped four other companies grow their online presence. Backtracking a little, TLN Creative Corner is where I sell glow rings, earrings, and other house hold items. I am in love with creating things. I saw a couple of videos on jewelry making and decided to get the tools needed and to try and make some. I got the idea of making bullet jewelry from a couple of friends that saw them online. They gave me the challenge of making my own version. It was a perfect thing for me because I, as a BoyScout, love to recycle. I use my own firearm and collect the shells and turn them into jewelry. After being successful in making the jewelry I had a couple people who wanted to buy my jewelry so I created a way to sell them. I started TLN Creative Corner as a family business. My Wife, Nicole Jones, makes a ton of home goods from candles to bath scrubs and more. As of right now she is pregnant and will be waiting until after the baby is born to make more products. We now offer Rings as well in our jewelry line.

What problems you solve for your clients and/or what you think sets you apart from others?
Asphalt Studios is all about getting other companies on the map. Helping other businesses big or small to grow. Offering great services for reasonable prices. Other companies like mine want to just do the work for you and get paid for it. I want to help teach my clients how to do what they want to get done while also offering them my services to do the work for them if they do not have the time to do it themselves. As a husband and a father of 4 kids plus one on the way, I also know the importance of budgeting. We offer tons of options to get any event going in our DJ and photography branches.
TLN Creative Corner is all about given great pieces of art as heart warming gifts. We feel that we are different from the crowd because we recycle a lot of materials and everything we make is in house, meaning its either hand made or hand crafted by my wife, my children, or me. Our rings are very different as well. We only offer rings with glowing aspects in them. We also do custom work for anyone that needs almost anything made.
What are you most proud of?
I am proud to be able to follow my dream as far as being able to help others see their full potential and giving them an avenue to strive to be better. I’m glad to be able to support others and help them grow their brands. As a young kid, I always dreamed of teaching but I didn’t want to be a traditional teacher. I loved teaching others and now I can offer my services while teaching my clients. I’m also proud of being able to support my wife with an outlet so she can create cool home goods and sell them. That was a dream of hers and I helped her complete it.
What are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc?
I want everyone to know I’m here to help. Contact me for any help on your upcoming projects. If I can help I will and if I can’t, I will help find someone that can. I’m a great contact to have and the network I work with is yours to join. Follow us on facebook and instagram for new products we release.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
My view on NFTs is its the future of art. Think of it this way, old art has a lot of value to those who love it and new art takes a while to appreciate and collect that same value and love. NFTs have changed that, you can now create art and a community that loves your art. Which boosts the value of your art quicker. The secret there is to not have a huge collection of artwork but hold a lot of smaller collections. You can have one huge collection to get others into your community but you want those special collections that not everyone can get. Kind of like having a one of one painting. The smaller your collection the more valuable it can be. Having a huge community and interacting with them is also key. If you can not get people involved with your collection and keep them around then your collection will fail. The NFT space is powered by those that believe in that community and in the creators of the collections. I am A little bias to this question due to being a part of Dracarrjsupplyco_NFT. I love what Andre Carriere is all about and his brand is great along with his message. That’s why I agreed to be a part of his NFT group.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Growing up, I found peace in music and art. It was a great way for me to release stress and tension from high school and college exams. So to be able to give that same out look to our next generation is a huge goal of mine. That’s why Asphalt Studios is here. I am working to build this company to be able to offer artists(both in music and crafts) a place to grow and showcase their talents while being their own owners. I also had a rough time finding the best ring I could give to my wife. So instead of purchasing one, I decided to create our wedding rings and I think she loves it more then any diamond I could have bought for her. That is where TLN Creative Corner comes in, I want to be able to help couples get the rings they will love and a price that is obtainable. I have gone as far as getting financing for my customers so they can buy any of my products.
