We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Terrell Fure’ a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Terrell, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I listened to artist like Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Mad Cobra, Shabba Ranks, Ninja man, Super Cat, and other’s. I would use the melody to their songs and then write my own lyrics. Then shortly after I began to make up my own melodies when writing songs. I could’ve read more patios vocabulary books. The skills that are most essential is knowing how to write a good song and knowing how to deliver it well. I was the obstacle that stood in the way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Terrell Fure’ I’m a Foundational Black American dancehall reggae artist/ songwriter. Born and raised in between Long Island, Queens, and Brooklyn New York. I officially got into the Music industry by a good friend and music producer named Gareth Hunter. I’m a very focused and disciplined type of person and it’s kind of easy for me to be so because I’m a loner. Being a loner you get to perfect whatever your craft is so that’s definitely a plus as well. My music is on all digital platforms so the readers can go download my music and save it to their playlist. What sets me apart from others is my song topics, catchy hooks, my versatility, and my voice. Right now I’m most proud of the big buzz I’ve been making on social media. I want people to know that I make great music, I’m one of those kind of artist that only come around every ten to 20 years. I’m really talented. I’m really gifted and they will definitely get their money worth. My brand is legendary.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
That by doing what you’re passionate about and love to do you can make money from it. Best feeling in the world aside from seeing people react to it.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Don’t support people just because society says they’re popular. Support people because they’re genuinely talented.
