Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Terrance Manning. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Terrance, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
I am currently a soccer coach/Director of Coaching for a club called Total Ginga Academy here in the local Cincinnati, OH area. I grew up playing for the club when they were only a futsal club but have expanded exponentially since then now becoming a soccer and futsal club. With my skills and learning experience as a coach, my family and friends then encouraged me to become a soccer personal trainer. It’s always been a thought, but never been an action because of the lack of comfort within doing so. I finally came to realization that in order to be comfortable, that you have to be uncomfortable sometimes. Which leads me to where I am today as a Director of Coaching with Total Ginga Academy and a personal soccer trainer (Manning Magic) soccer and speed and agility training!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My business is as a personal soccer trainer called Manning Magic. Not only to I do soccer training, but I also help with speed and agility. I started my business with the support of family and friends. I have a brother who also owns his own basketball training program and travels the world coaching teams and individual players, so that’s where I got most of my inspiration from I’ve always had a passion and love for the game of soccer and want to help others either make it to the next level or help them become a better individual overall! What I’m looking for more within my business is for more clients and exposure of my business, whether it be word of mouth or referrals from my current clients that I have now. I enjoy helping people and seeing the growth and excitement on their faces when they can feel their own individual growth. I offer an affordable and quality training for ages 8 years old to 21 years old currently.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Simply enough my business didn’t cost really anything to get started. I had some of the equipment myself, but probably spent a couple hundred dollars to buy any extra equipment, but I do plan on investing more money in the future towards my business.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients is either self-marketing, or referrals/word of mouth if you currently have any clients. Self-marketing can be someone watching you train another client, business cards, one-on-one confrontations, etc…
