Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Terrance Green. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Terrance, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
In the corporate world, there this mentality in thinking it’s okay to gatekeep information, that can potentially change his or her life in the long run.
What the corporate world does wrong in my industry, is that sometimes they don’t help independent artist. They like to gatekeep information. There was an artist I work with, which is a amazing artist, has have issues with previous distribution company’s getting his music on all music platforms. The problem with this is that some of these distributions company’s will allow you to upload your music but don’t help with getting your music heard, streams, radio placements, etc. That what SWDD comes in, we do everything in the book to insure that the artist has everything they need and want to give them a jumpstart in there music career,
especially independent artist.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Greetings Kingz and Queens, My name Terrance “TP” Green, I wear many hats.I’m a Music Executive for a major music distribution company called Southwest Digital (SWDD), owner of business called Kingz Empire Investmentz LLC, that focuses on mentoring melanin kingz ages between 18-35. How I started was not always peaches and crème. In 2012 I was diagnosed with Kidney Failure, which restricted me from working in my career field. At that moment in time, I was very depressed because me watching “ associates” start there lives, really effected me mentally. I have been through ICU three times, lost the ability to walk, lost both of my parents 6 months apart. When I say I didn’t understand why I’ll this happening to me,. It was not easy but what I did learn over time is that the creator will put his strongest/chosen ones through Trauma that will mold you into something great.
Fast Forward in 2019, I was a sever/bartender at Redlobster, making decent money, until the pandemic hit. I’ve lost my job, which was my only source of income other than my disability check I get every month. It was frustrating but I decided to not let any thing stop me, and took a leap of faith. I tap into my entrepreneurship and started my own business, which in 2021 been featured in over 200+ major news outlets called Kingz Empire Investmentz.
Later that Year I meet my mentor, John Patillo (JP), the owner of SWDD who took me under his wing, teaching me everything in the music industry also introduces me to some the top people in the music game. Ms Yolonda which I called my mentor aka spiritual mother, which in fact the owner of The Yo Studio, members only, state of the art facility all across Houston that caters to all content creators. She made me (PR) and a board member.
What I’m most proud of is my growth. What I’ve learned over time, is yes your going to run into problems overtime, but look at the lessons and mindset you gain from your past traumas. When you start focusing on you and not giving energy into things not for you, the universe will make a way for your blessings to come in overflow.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
There are a couple of books that have Read over the past two years. My personal favorite is think and grow rich and then my second one is conceive believe achieved by David Imonite. These books help me develop a strong mindset for the career I am in now. Reading is fundamental because it will help condition, develop, and inspire you to do great things.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Funny story, I actually met three of the guys on my team all at the same time. We met on my birthday at the building called the ion. It was a photo shoot, put together and it’s so crazy that they we aligned in the universe. What’s meant for you is meant for you. We are a team, especially black man showing that we can work together and break generational curses.
