We recently connected with Terrance Barksdale and have shared our conversation below.
Terrance, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Investing in yourself has proven to be the best investment I have ever made. That way, if something went wrong, I wouldn’t have anyone to blame. My ability to move at my own pace is most crucial. rather than being held to a deadline or time limit. the ability to do things when you are ready to accomplish them rather than waiting for approval from others. Having said that, I’m investing in my own graphic design, picture editing, and photography business. It doesn’t matter if your firm succeeds or fails; what matters most is that you created it from scratch. With this, you may demonstrate to other businesses that you are and are capable of being a leader who manages projects and manages risk in the business world.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The notion to launch a branding company was the catalyst for everything in 2016. For a while, it was simply an idea, but then 2017 arrived. I reasoned that since I’ve already taken so many chances in life, why not. I set out to build a brand that could be used by people from many backgrounds. “Get It” The “Get It” mentality is ingrained in all of us, and we all strive for something, no matter how tiny. Brand is something we do every day without giving it a second thought. That leads us to the present, when it is time to go forward and adopt a fundamental aspect of the human mindset. In order to further my abilities in the field of video and photography, I have now returned to college and am enrolled in the “Visual Arts Program” at the University of Texas at Dallas. The thing I am most proud of is that I never give up, no matter how difficult life may be. While the work you are doing may occasionally alter, creativity never withers; it always grows.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I was considering where I wanted to take my artistic abilities when the epidemic hit in late 2019 or early 2020. At the time, it was something I had been considering a lot. I always take great delight in being ten steps ahead of whatever I set my mind to. I simply wanted to handle the entire process rather than just designing and editing pictures. My initial intention was to simply eliminate all middlemen. Instead of using models, I should shoot my designs’ finished products. I wanted to put everything up this way rather than relying on others for my creative visions and control. Nobody will push and see your vision as you will at the end of the day. On top of that, everyone started developing and designing things as the design market became entirely saturated. I therefore realized I had to alter my creative process.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My strategy for growing my social media following was to stand out in whatever way I could. To begin with, you want to stand out from the crowd. You must conduct study on what other people are doing and devise a strategy for developing your own distinctive style. Once you’ve done that, the focus shifts from what you think is good to what the audience wants to see or hear. You need to earn your audience’s trust by demonstrating to them that you will consistently offer captivating photos or videos. Connect with local influencers to collaborate so that you may reach a bigger audience of viewers who might buy your items or follow you on social media. Simply keep producing and being unique to separate out from the crowd since nothing happens overnight.
