We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Terra Blume. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Terra below.
Terra, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
I think there’s a lot that can be done and a lot that should change in the educational system. There should be a stronger focus on creativity and moving in the direction of that. “Modern” school teaches in a one-size-fits-all mindset, and that is detrimental as there’s never a box that “works” for everyone. Every person is different, they have different needs, they learn differently, they act differently, and so on. Putting them in a box only hinders their creative ability to go towards something they actually would enjoy doing as a career/for their life.
I’ve had way too many negative experiences with school that still bother me to this day. I switched over to online school during high school, which wasn’t the best decision looking back but a positive from that is that I was able to start learning about myself and my own independent thought. Once I graduated high school, I was able to learn about myself even more and various interests that I couldn’t dedicate time to during school, like music and entrepreneurship. Additionally, I was able to build my confidence and move through life in a way that feels more acceptable.
I will say that I’ve had great teachers during my time in school, online and in person, but they were far and few. Had the schools that I went to actually cared, life would be a lot different for me and for other people who are in the same position as me, or worse. I’ve experienced and seen bullying, acts of being ridiculed, explosive behavior from other kids AND adults, immaturity and high levels of incompetence through ALL years of school. Whenever kids try to bring up their issues to an adult, they get brushed away or ridiculed even further for “not knowing anything” due to our age. If people were just given consideration and had the chance to be listened to, I guarantee that problems in school would go down by 50%. People need someone to hear them out, kids and adults. That would help them moving forward and in turn, give them a more clear path for a way of life that aligns with them, because they would’ve gotten the help and support that they needed/deserved.

Terra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the owner of the brand, The Realms Of Love. I started the brand in late 2020 with the intent to focus on creating what my heart desires. Currently, the main focus is natural handmade candles and essential oils, but the brand will develop to more things such as soaps, apparel, and more. I’ve loved candles for years, to the point where I used to collect candles in middle school. Years went on and my focus shifted, but since having some more free time, I decided to dive into the way of entrepreneurship and figured I would try my hands at making candles! So far, it’s been a very interesting journey but I learned a lot from it!
Out of all of the candles I have made, my favorite candles are my Oakmoss candles and my Pumpkin Pie candles! I’m a huge fan of the autumn season and those two scents are right up my alley. I fully recommend those two, also because they’re both best sellers!
One thing that’s important is health, and being conscious to the fact that there are lots of toxins in the world. I specialize in only using clean fragrances in my candles that are free from phthalates, mutagens and carcinogens. I also make sure to never use paraffin wax in any of my products.
Outside of the candles, I am a musician and you can find my music on any streaming service under the name ‘Terra Blume’! I released a song back in March titled ‘Peach Town’, and I have a lot of interesting things coming up this year that you won’t want to miss!
My goal with anything that involves my creativity, rather it be my candles or my music, is that I want to inspire someone else like people have inspired me that I look up to. I want to help people feel relaxed and calm in a world where everything is tense and fast-paced. When people smell my candles or listen to the music I create, I want them to resonate with it.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the biggest ongoing things for me is staying consistent. I’ve had difficulty staying focused on different tasks and keeping a schedule, but I’ve learned that it’s one of the most important things you could learn and apply everywhere in your life. You have to keep moving and learning. It’s not beneficial to stay stagnant. There can be times that we may feel discouraged, or times where we feel like giving up, but you have to fight through that and keep it pushing until you get your big break. Don’t give up, stay consistent and you will get where you need to be.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There’s this YouTuber named Jaspreet Singh who runs the channel Minority Mindset. His videos have helped me a lot and he’s super concise and straightforward with his explanations.
Chervin Jafarieh is another inspiration, as he is the CEO of Cymbiotika, a health brand. I’ve watched Cymbiotika grow into what it is today and it’s inspiring to know that that’s possible to achieve. Everything he does is with intent.
I need to get into reading more books but I’ve been reading various books from Rudolf Steiner and Thich Nhat Hanh that have helped me in ways of thinking in all directions.
