We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tereza Toledo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tereza below.
Alright, Tereza thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success comes after a series of consistent small steps taken daily. There isn’t one specific recipe that we all much follow to succeed in life or business, It’s important to set goals, but the most important is to be open to adjust as you go. Looking back at my own success journeys, all of them involved a commitment to taking action, being open-minded to tweak and change the course as needed and accepting as many opportunities that were presented to me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
About me and how I’ve started:
I started working on the online media world in 2016. After my husband had a small stroke, I was worried for myself and kids and decided to find a new career. I’m an immigrant from Brazil, was a stay at home mom mom and had been away from the workforce for over 8 years. I’ve always been an entrepreneur and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Law before moving to the US.
I was offered a social media intern position at the online fitness and wellness company where I was working as a personal trainer. From there I’ve learned the ins and outs of Pinterest, social media marketing and started working with clients in different industries.
I’ve studied Pinterest closely from different angles (creators, e-commerce, users, service providers), experimented consistently with multiple Pinterest accounts, developed a deep knowledge of the platform, the platform users behavior and different ways of utilizing it as a tool for online marketing.
I’ve worked with names such as Jay Shetty and Rachel Pedersen, have been featured on Business Insider, Influencive and am the co-author of the “The Entrepreneurs Playbook” (Pinterest chapter).
I’ve participated on different online summits and recorded the Pinterest bonus training for Jay Shetty’s Social Media Growth course. I’m also is a Pioneer for the Pinterest Business Community, where I volunteer assisting businesses and creators in this Pinterest forum.
I stay updated on all platform changes, have participated in several beta testing programs for Pinterest, I’m part of the Pinterest Creator Rewards Program, I have my own Pinterest for business course and provided support through WCEC eCommerce Expansion Program (SBA funded) offering consultation and mentorship to female small business owners.
How I serve:
At the moment, I provide Pinterest marketing services to 6 to 8-figure businesses and creators. I help them with content strategy and Pinterest / TikTok account management. I offer a VIP hands-on approach that not only helps them achieve the desired results but also allows them to focus on other areas of their businesses as
I handle this part of their marketing strategy.
I’m well known for being a pioneer on learning and applying the latest Pinterest tools and features. I try and test features as they come out and immediately test them with marketing purposes, having an edge over traditional Pinterest experts.
I also pride myself on offering an ethical approach of marketing. The techniques and strategies used and taught always focus on respecting the industry guidelines, copyrights and are based on creating inclusive and positive content.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
As a social media and Pinterest expert, building my own presence has always been more difficult than building my clients’ presence.
In the beginning, my focus was on client work. Client work was what would pay the bills and help me build a portfolio. It wasn’t until 3 years ago that I started focusing on my own online presence.
I started with a website and by creating my own profile on all platforms. Nothing was “perfect”, but it was done so people could find me when looking for references. In 2020, following my business mentor direction, I decided to create content on TikTok. This unexpected action became a gateway for a flood of content and a trigger to a new direction in my journey.
I had to learn to be comfortable in front of the camera, discover what people wanted to learn from me and dive into my own self to find out how I wanted to be seen. Through this journey, I realized I didn’t want to be seen behind a filter, but like my own self, accents, grammar mistakes and everything else.
From there, I also realized that I didn’t have to create brand-new content for each and every platform and that it didn’t have to be professionally done. That done was better than perfect. I was able to create a repurpose system that allows me to show up in every platform with the least effort.
If I was to start it all over again (and this is the advice I have to share), I’d just start. Id’ choose one platform that I liked the most and learn about it. From there, I’d jump right into creating content without worrying about perfection. Showing up consistently is much better than worrying about doing everything right and not publishing content in the end. Once i was comfortable with it, i’d start sharing the same content, slightly tweaked to each platform until ready to create content intentionally for all platforms.
Even one piece of content a day will compound to 365 pieces of content in one year!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My biggest source of client leads is through referrals. By making sure that I serve with excellence every single client and student, I’m guaranteeing myself an endless source of referrals and positive feedback. When making mistakes, I’ve owned them and made sure to give more value.
Finding clients is easy, keeping clients that will generate more clients is the hard part. But can be done. I don’t overpromise, but I always show up with confidence and overdeliver.
