We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Teresa Comí Sansa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Teresa below.
Teresa, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My personal mission is to create products, services and experiences that allow people to live happier, healthier lives. I do this in two different ways: as a Product Consultant and Business Designer, I guide mission-driven entrepreneurs to create products that deeply connect with their customers. At Caeli, I create the products myself co-creating with my partner, our community and artisans and designers.
I believe the key to a happier, healthier world is to live slower. I discovered this when I took a sabbatical year and suddenly, all the noise stopped. Being away from obligations for a while and letting my soul wonder opened a new way of seeing the world for me. I discovered a place where you take the time to really appreciate, listen to others meaningfully, and make decisions responsibly. This is the key to a happier world for me, and I try to contribute to it.
Teresa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My background is in Product Management, and as a consultant, I guide entrepreneurs through the process of validating their ideas, value propositions, target market or positioning. I use user research and design thinking techniques to de-risk ideas and businesses, especially before launch. During the first stages of product creation, there is a lot of uncertainty, so having a step-by-step process and guidance to create a sustainable business is really beneficial not only for the company but also for the entrepreneur’s mental health! At Caeli, I design and curate products for slow and inspired homes. I am certain that our environments have an effect on us, so our motto is that a better world starts in a slow home. At Caeli, we do everything keeping this in mind, and we care about the what, the who and the how in each and every product you’ll find on our website.
Our star product is an Evening Rituals Box that we have launched this year to help people slow down and unwind in the evening, after a busy day. The box contains five different meditations carefully paired with five different incense scents so our clients can create their own evening ritual and oasis. We worked with 12 customers for a year to develop the product, as we wanted to make it as meaningful as possible. Our website is www.caelideco.com if you want to see more.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective sales strategy for us at Caeli has been opening the wholesale channel. Being a small team with no digital marketing expertise makes it challenging for us to succeed in today’s saturated digital world. However, B2B business is still a lot about the personal touch. We contact (and personally visit if we can) retailers, and tell them about us, our story, why we would love to be in their space, and what we can add for them. It is a process of creating meaningful, long-lasting relationships with other business owners, which is something we love doing. The wholesale channel has given us a steady source of sales when B2C digital marketing has become too crowded, too expensive and too noisy for us.
