We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Terence Julius a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Terence , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?

I Don’t follow Certain Trends or keep up with Cultural or Societial Views I don’t live my life and Create Art following a Formula or Running A Rat Race I am My own Muse My own Man Creating my Own Damn Rules People get Intimidated by that because they’re Mysteriously Thriving off the Same Plateau ….It’s Cool to call me Misunderstood They’re Just One Dimensional Distorted Dangerous Delusion Thinkers They Laugh They Gossip They Copy and try to be your friend when they realize they can’t Keep up with you. I always Pay ’em in Dust and Silence and Let God deal with them Swiftly and Expenditiously. MISCHARACTERIZED? Lol ,
You can’t Do that if I never Had a Conversation with you That is Fan Behavior you can’t say anything about Someone’s Personality or Character Unless you have met them…. Listen….My Whole Life I’ve been MisCharacterized as Mean, Boujie and Standoffish That stuff doesn’t Phase Me I don’t Owe Anybody Niceties I am a Kind Person that take no mess with nobody and I have Standards that these folks can’t even Live up to.

One day I just Decided to Go for it and Like they Say …..The Rest is History……I was Always Doing Music But once I took it to another Level with The Singing The Songwriting and Teaching myself How to Produce in 6 months.
What sets me Apart from Everyone else is I am Always Thriving and Always finding New Ways to be the Best. I think I am the Best at What I do The World Just needs to Catch Up….

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

The Goal is to Be Creative
The Mission is to be Heard
I want to be Respected and Celebrated for my Talents . Being Blessed Booked Busy and Paid. That is The Mission The Goal and the Vision.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

This is my Intuitive Perspective I Believe People that weren’t Blessed with some type of Artistic Talent or Talents Are Very Bitter with themselves and their life. Because Artists are a representation of the life decisions they had to make and for the risk that they weren’t capable of taking so every chance those people get they will tear you down as a person and the talent that you have. Us Artists and Entertainers are a Living Witness to the Scrutiny and Jealousy that comes with being an artist because Everybody wants to be an artist one way or another I WISH AT TIMES THEY WOULD LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE !!!!!! WE DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR BORING NORMAL LIFE.

As an artist myself my life is Very Eccentric some will never Understand that and it’s Perfectly Fine some folks are bored with their lives giving out Passive aggressive Socially Akward Unsolicited Advice to hear themselves talk and feel important . Everytime I tell someone I am an Artist that does it all they always say 2 things Oh What is your plan B? and Where the money coming from ? and what baffles me the most is why Always say Plan B when the Alphabet is from A-Z and it’s like how and who told you I didn’t have a Plan I am just not sharing it with you because you are a Monitoring Spirit trying to rain on my Parade.
We as a Artist and Entertainers go through Storms and Great lengths To Protect Our Talent Careers and Energy So Now I don’t tell folks anymore That I am an Entertainer I let them Find out for themselves And When people ask me about Music or when my next Show is? I literally Say I don’t like talking about Music to Strangers Unless you are apart of an Entertainment Company A Producer or A&R That is how I set a Healthy Boundaries Guarding My Life and My Talent and Career DON’T BE AFRAID TO SAY NO ! AND WALK AWAY WITH YOUR SELF RESPECT AND ARTISTRY IN TACT!!!!
