Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Terè Rodriguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Terè, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’ve been working on a long leading project focusing on my indigenous background as well as that of some of the people that I’ve photographed and admire for their pride and love of their heritage. I have been showcasing in my photography the beauty of the heritage of our ethnicity with a mixture of American upbringing and old custom traditions.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started photographing when I was still in high school. Mostly family and friends. It went on to cultural events and car shows. As I got a bit older and decided to start my own business I started working at several family events such as weddings, quinceañeras and corporate parties. Although that type of photography was not my goal in photography, it paid the bills. My passion was Chicano/Mexican indigenous lifestyle photography.

Can you share how social media helped you in your arts?
I think that if social media was around when I was starting out, it would have helped so much. All there was when I started were business ads, art walks, word of mouth and physical flyers. I do believe I would have gotten a lot further in my career.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I stay humble. No matter how many times I have my photography at art shows, museums or even published in magazines; I never let it get to my head because I know how far I’ve come and I wouldn’t have gotten to that place without the love, support and belief of my family and friends. I remember where I come from and I will forever be grateful for my upbringing.
