We were lucky to catch up with Teondra “Lucy” Robinson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Teondra “Lucy” thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I think I will always talk about my granny. She is the reason why I am ME! What her and my mother got right? My grandmother raised me to be helpful and a lover of people and all things. Over the years my sensitives just grew. I’m sensitive all around and early on I thought that was a bad thing, but what I know now is that that’s what makes me a great massage therapist.
So I absolutely feel a deep sense of gratitude for my grandmother for instilling love in me. In my adult life I’ve learned to operate out of love and it’s one of my favorite things about myself. My mother didn’t have to teach me work ethic. She led by example!! Here I am all these years later following in the hard work footsteps. I love what I do and I push through no matter what to give my clients the best experience. My mother also told me to “learn everything you can” That really stuck! I’m a forever student. I love to learn, which is why I am now certified in manual lymph drainage, nutrition coaching, specializing in weight loss. In a couple months I’ll be a certified meditation practitioner and post surgical lymph drainage therapist. Thank you to both of my moms for raising me to love and work hard. Dad, I didn’t forget about you. Your strength radiated from you! I was always in awe of how handy you were and how you knew how to do all these different things… which may be why I want “to know how to do all these different things” and be just as strong as you!
My incredible three! Truevine Thanks you!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I decided to become a Massage Therapsit after looking at the massage therapy program curriculum. I saw all the things I’d learn and I got really excited. Shortly after, I realized “Oh wow, I’ve been a person of touch my whole life.” I was meant to do this work. The body is intelligent and massage therapy is just a vehicle to guide your body toward healing. What I love most about this work is the feedback I get from my clients. Hearing “I’m lucky to have Teondra,” or “You’re the greatest.” I know that I’m doing something right.
I’m adding more services like meditation to my repertoire. People are stressed.
It is hard to clear your mind and me being me, I want to help!! My own mind has been crowded and busy daily. This year alone meditation has helped me in ways I can’t explain, but I do know it’s not the easiest thing to force your brain to do. I’m excited about this addition.
Weren’t you a juicer? Yes, I do that too. I believe in supplementing the body with the things it lacks.
Truevine has just been super focused on building a massage practice and juicing will make its way back to the forefront soon.
I’m most proud of myself for taking a chance to do all the things that make me happy. I believe that God and the universe will bring me everything I need to help all the clients I will have,
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
RIGHT NOW! Wow, I’ve never been hit with such a vision to MOVE. That can mean so many things, right? I believe I have been equipped with everything I need. The hang up is!!!!!! I am not a risk taker. How do you walk away from what is steady to take a chance on building “your own.” I still don’t know what I’m doing. What I do know is that all things work for good. I have been happy for others, I’ve loved, I’ve learned. Do I think it’s my chance to win and be successful? Of course I do. I want Truevine to grow into something that surpasses what I can come up with and for that to happen, I have to pivot. Here’s to doing the unthinkable.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
So many times, I thought that I didn’t have it in me to be an entrepreneur. I had to unlearn that. I have everything it takes. I’ve had to affirm myself in ways that I never had. I had to start listening to the people in my corner telling me I can do this. I had to believe them. I had sit with myself and understand that I can’t achieve what I want to achieve if I never take the chance. A young woman named Susana left an opportunity on the table, fearfully I reached for it. My loving and supportive boyfriend said “DO IT.” Now Truevine has a place to bring relief to the community.
The key is unlearning your limiting beliefs and dive into believing that you are unlimited and life works with your desires. The key is listening to the people in your life that are meant to propel you forward,
