We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tennessee Placenta Services. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tennessee below.
Tennessee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
One of the most heartwarming stories we have is actually from a recent client of ours. This client had been curious about placenta encapsulation because she had heard that it can be helpful for postpartum depression. She has experienced postpartum depression with her first baby. After the birth of her second baby, she was feeling good and decided against having her placenta encapsulated. A few months after birth, she started experiencing postpartum depression symptoms and called us to see if she could still encapsulate her frozen placenta, which we were able to do. She started taking her placenta capsules right away and immediately noticed a difference. She ended up curbing the depression and has had an enjoyable postpartum journey!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Tennessee Placenta Services was founded by two moms that work with the perinatal community. Not only did Aubrey and Brittany both have their own unique stories with birth, postpartum, and placentas, but they are noticed that the community was in need of more support during postpartum.
We provide placenta encapsulation and other placenta remedy preparation to our local communities. Currently we services all over the Middle Tennessee and Northern Alabama areas. We are also in works to have encapsulators all over the state. We also host placenta specialist trainings, all of which are in person for hands on training with real placentas. We host these in our local communities and we are able to travel all over the US!
Placentas contain several healing substances that are supportive to your body during your postpartum period and beyond. These include iron, oxytocin, prolactin, and a plethora of vitamins.
Placenta capsules and chocolates can be supportive in early postpartum by speeding up healing time, decreasing postpartum mood disorders, and improving milk supply! Placenta tinctures can last for a lifetime and are helpful with PMS and menopause, digestion and insomnia, as well as emotional imbalances! Placenta salves have been known to aid in healing skin conditions and rashes, scrapes and scars, as well as diaper rash and cracked nipples!
How’d you meet your business partner?
Brittany and I (Aubrey) met through a mutual client that we were supporting through postpartum and now through their subsequent children too! During that initial period, we only had communicated over text message to relay our notes from working with the family. A few months later, another mutual friend invited us out for dinner, though we didn’t know the other was coming. After a little bit of talking at dinner, we discovered just who the over was! We quickly became pretty close friends and spent a decent amount of time together. We both were already encapsulating placentas. We came together to start Tennessee Placenta Services after noticing that the community was not able to find encapsulators (even though we were out there!) so we started partnering with other professionals in the community to ensure everyone that wanted encapsulation had access to it. We also now train other encapsulators to help make this service accessible in even more communities!
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Absolutely! For me (Aubrey), I have been in the birth and postpartum world since 2017. I started as a doula support families through pregnancy and birth, educating them on what to expect and encapsulating their placentas if they chose that service. I am now a student midwife, working in the home birth space. I feel like I am following my true north, following the path that I was meant to. I am beyond honored to work with families during such delicate and precious moments. I would do it over and over again!
For Brittany, she’s also right where she belongs. Faithfully and holistically supporting families through the transitions of parenthood, helping them succeed in their goals whether its breastfeeding, sleep, having a smooth flow within the household, or anything else really! She is a mix between a postpartum doula, lactation consultant, household manager, nourishing meal preparer, or homeschool extraordinaire! This is all on top of encapsulating placentas and liver!
