We recently connected with Te’Neshia Wilmer and have shared our conversation below.
Te’Neshia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
From a young age, I recognized my inclination towards a career in fashion, but wasn’t until 2019 that I truly committed to taking designing and making clothes seriously as a professional pursuit.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a luxury gown designer from Detroit, MI. Inspired by my adoptive mother, who was a seamstress and daycare owner. She created bridal wear so naturally I developed a deep-rooted passion for fashion particularly in creating my own garments.
Glaze Galore is an exclusive women’s brand that specializes in handcrafted couture gowns for special occasions and high-end events including weddings, award ceremonies and prom. Providing services such as customized dresses and gowns, bespoke tailoring, and personal styling.
I love hearing I have an event to attend and nothing to wear because creating a breath-taking dress is my problem-solving superpower.
It brings me great joy that when women wear something that I’ve handmade because it provides them with a positive self-image. I’m such a girl’s girl I really believe that I was created to empower women, regardless of their appearance or background. Diversity and inclusion are at the core of all my designs, setting me apart from other designers.
As for my biggest accomplishment to date, it was the planning and preparing of Glaze Galore’s first fashion show “Season of Galore” which aimed to redefine couture within the urban community. Despite the unfortunate cancellation due to issues with the event location, this experience has been invaluable, teaching me crucial aspects of business like legally binding contracts and the importance of contingency planning. I’m proud that even without the show happening it ignited excitement and empowerment within the community, and I look forward to rescheduling it for spring 2024 with anticipation of a fantastic turnout.
I would like everyone to know that I am an incredibly compassionate and heart-centered woman with a powerful vision.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My creative journey is fueled by a specific mission which is to have Glaze Galore serve as a hub for urban couture in Detroit. This involves hosting fashion events, workshops, and collaborations with local artists and designers. I’m driven by the belief that I can spearhead a movement focused on showcasing self-love, acceptance and empowerment through fashion.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best way society can support artists and creatives, like fashion designers such as myself is by buying local. It’s important to recognize your friend’s brand is designer too. Also, encouraging collaborative projects to boost exposure, offering mentorship for support and generating fresh opportunities.
