Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tenecia Sproull. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tenecia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
The Pink Queen Foundation, Inc we are a registered 501c3 nonprofit located in South Florida. Our Mission is to make a personal connection with cancer survivors that are currently under treatments for cancer. We provide emotional, financial, and spiritual support to the cancer survivor. We also educate the immediate family(caregiver)as it relates to the disease. A family in particular, a young mother battling cancer for the 2nd time. The mother was stressed and overwhelmed as she has two young sons that are both too young to understand the journey she was on. Our organization learned what her children favorite hobbies, and toy gadgets. We made personalized baskets for each child and they were thrilled. We also included an age appropriate note stating that their job is to take care of mommy while she heals from her sickness to be good boys, do good in school, and love on mommy as often as they can. The survivor appreciated the kind gesture that our organization had provided to her family and she (the survivor) noticed a big improvement in the boys behavior at home, school, and just in general.
Tenecia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Greetings my name is Tenecia Sproull and I am a 11 year Breast Cancer Survivor. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the age of 37 with 2 young children. During my journey/recovery I was contacted by various individuals that had families that were recently diagnosed with the disease and they wanted me to be a supporter to them and their family. The support began with the creation of a wellness basket. In this basket was items that I used while on my own journey such as Ginger Tea, Ginger Candy, unscented soaps, hygiene products, inspirational books, blanket, protein snacks, hard candies, and other items I tailored to fit the actual recipient of the basket. As of this year we have distributed approximately 200 plus baskets since est.2016
What sets The Pink Queen Foundation apart from other cancer organizations is that we make a personal connection with the cancer fighter as we provide hope/wellness baskets, we connect with families through our program (Bridging Families on the Cancer Journey), and we also have a scholarship program that we offer to high school students that has a parent whom has battled or lost their life to this disease. The potential student/scholarship applicant must volunteer a minimum of 15hours with The Pink Queen Foundation to qualify to apply.
