We recently connected with Tempest Welch and have shared our conversation below.
Tempest, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
I just came back from a business vacation. I had the opportunity to speak at Taxes in Tulum, a Wealth Development Summit hosted by The Carter’s, owners of Carter and Associates LLC and Carter Capital PLLC. The summit was the most informational and outstanding conference I’ve been to! Next year in April, we will be traveling to Toronto, Canada to host the fourth annual conference. But I want you to know that, one thing I do love to do is take vacations. I’ve been taking vacations since I was one. Being an entrepreneur has allowed me to be able to travel more frequently than when I was employed. When I was employed, I would book my trip before even getting approved. Now, I can come and go as I please without permission. This is the number one perk of being an entrepreneur! If you are an entrepreneur or employee my advice to you is to TAKE THAT VACATION, life is too short to only live to work.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Tempest Welch a native of Monroe, Louisiana who now resides in Dallas, Texas. Growing up, I have always been a creative person and always wanted to help others enhance their growth and take it to the next level. This is what led me to build a Brand and Website Company. Stormy Co was established in May 2020 and since then we have already helped hundreds of clients that managed to scale their business and their branding efforts. We have a professional background in the world and design, while also having a great understanding of branding, self-promotion, and efficiency. Although we are located in Dallas, Texas, we work with clients all over the country. What makes Stormy Co unique though is that we only take a limited number of clients. We do that because we want to offer everyone the attention they need to boost their confidence, enhance their brand and take it to the next level.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I’ve heard so many times, “Oh I just need a logo and website, that’s it.” This is the #1 Non-creatives struggle to understand in our journey as creative.
When I first started my journey in the Design Industry, offering logos and websites was all I saw others selling so I assumed that was what I was supposed to be doing. Being that I am a self-taught designer, I figured a lot of things out before becoming an intern and hiring coaches. This is when I began to learn about the words and labels I gave myself and taught to others.
A “brand” is your reputation, what are the people saying about your business, and/or how they feel. Yes, I know the logo and can recognize it, but when I think of that brand it goes a lot deeper than the logo and website. When I think of a brand, I respond with how they made me feel or their customer service, not how cute their logo or website is. For example, Amazon everyone loves online shopping at Amazon because of the quality service they receive. I can see images in my head of products from Amazon. That’s how memorable you want to be to your customers!
Remember that your brand is your identity as a business owner. Your identity is identifying your Purpose, Position, and Presence. As I mentioned, as my business evolves I will continue to grow. People will see an image and know it’s been uploaded by me without even looking at the name. Although it takes time, you must be consistent and intentional. If you take a look at my Instagram you will see the consistency of my brand and work. I want you to know that it is more than just your favorite colors, a logo, and a website. Your brand is a combination of the 3 P’s your Brand Purpose, Brand Positioning and Brand Presence.
With strategic planning, Stormy Co is about to help and educate our clients on every aspect of the business. I want every entrepreneur to know that it takes more than just a logo and website to build a business!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by being 100% transparent. I know a lot of people get caught up on the social media thing, but it won’t be so hard if you just BE YOU. I believe in being authentic, consistent, empowering, enlightening, and educating the people helped me build my brand presence. In 2022, I asked God to help me set the foundation for my business and he did just that. I was able to align my actions and words, set my brand foundation, and I began to walk and talk like HER. Next thing you know, my social media presence grew tremendously! Due to the things I value doing and I am the same person on and off social media. As a result of positioning myself, I was able to gain trust and attract qualified clients
