We recently connected with Temiloluwa Egberongbe and have shared our conversation below.
Temiloluwa, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
As someone who had little to no faith in their ability and enough trust in thierselves in the past, I hope my legacy reflect that its possible to re-write your story regardless of whatever hinderances pop up on your journey.

Temiloluwa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Makeup has always been an outlet for me to creatively express myself. Even when i didn’t have anything to express through makeup, Id just play in it. I love the colors. I love how brush and pigments can do exactly what you want, as long as you control the placement. You can really create beauty and gore using the same exact tools. When you really step out of automatic MUA mode and look at what you have done with some brushes and color palletes, it is really mind blowing— like wow, my hands did this. I made this!
My name is Temi. I’m a Makeup Artist located in Broward. I’ve dabbled in different genres of makeup styles over years but these days, my specialty is glam makeup. The Miami Makeup Industry is populated with a lot of talented people whose presence and exellence motivated me to turn my outlet of creativity into a source of profitable income.
So, yes, now I just give the girls (gender neutral) what they want! Im all about satisfying and wowing my clients. I want them and their complexion to feel safe in my chair. I want them to tell their friends “Temi beammed me up!’. Then I want them to come back with their friends so we do it again. Frankly speaking, doing makeup seems to be most fun thing i get myself into. Ironically, its also work. But the thing is fun isn’t far from work when its always been your passion, source of happiness, place of comfort and escape.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Not to sound dramatic but my whole existence illustrates resilience. For a fact, a business owner who is not even ressilent is doing theirself a big disharm. Your back has to be really strong. As a small MUA in the big sea that the Miami beauty industry is, it is easy to get swallowed by the presence of big fishes in the industry and many other challanges that comes with starting your own business from the very scratch. Just like the big fishes must have experienced when they were my size, the challenges never stop but its important to remember that every challenge you overcome is a climbing ladder to the next level. Whenever you start to feel stagnant, look back and see how far you have travelled. Remain grateful for where you are. In order to progress, be very strategic. Your strategy doesnt have to make sense to anyone else but you. As long as you are sensibly analytical and strategic to yourself and you have a plan, your are setting yourself up for greatness.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Being a business owner comes with having to make a lot of decisions from the choices you have been dealt. Some of these choices we make end up not benefiting us as we have prospected that it would. Regardless of how strategic you think you were in making that choice, it ends up failing you. As an entrepeneur, this is happens quite often. You should look at this as another challenge to overcome. In situations like these, you have no other choice than to re-strategize and try again with a new plan. Sometimes, the detour you have to take might feel uncomfortable because it takes you out of your comfort zone or what you have always envisioned. If your are passionate enough about your craft, you will quickly realize that you having to pivot is only pushing the bigger picture of your business continuing to flourish and being profitable.
