Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tellygp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
TellyGP, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Health issues plus mental health issues, that came constant and recurred. Health is vital and I’ve dealt with issues to this day that stems from birth, being under developed for months before finally growing and also in my upbringing how I faced life fast, had felt real trauma and having ptsd early on that I still deal with till this day. So using art within those issues has giving me reason and purpose to create them moments outside those unexpected issues that occurred so much. A rose from concrete feel, eating clean will have you thinking clean so cleansing falls within that, so when the listener hears what I tend to create its understood it’s always much more to a story and felt, I’m working on becoming a cleanse for the world.

TellyGP, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I go by TellyGP an acronym standing for “too.evolve.learn.lessons.young.grow&prosper”, from broken homes having the story I have, how I views things is what sets me apart. Pain was frequent, I lost my uncle to the system at 16 and he was closer than my dad to me and getting closer. I vividly remember my mom waking me up telling me that he was on a run and what happened, I found out it was murder. I thought about our last conversation, I had to leave my emotions out of it and become numb to the fact life wouldn’t be the same- something I’ve come to know. Life can come and go and change and you have to rearrange quick so I never had time to sort it all out until I did, I just want it to be known I took the time to understand who I was, what my purpose was, who I’m doing it for and the reason throughout the hardships. When I finally had the chance to find my peace I recognized the significance, even as time go by it’s meant to keep finding you and it’s a never ending circle of life, trying and pushing regardless of the circumstances you have to face them, learn to embrace them and get through obstacles because it’s mandatory in life.
Tough love became a reality, watching people come and go, the non stability constant, the early trauma as a kid curiosity got me in trouble but it’s what my creation forms off now, it’s crazy how life can come full circle. Sometimes you don’t notice the signs until you start knowing what to look for. I’m proud of the fact my story is documented and there’s purpose. My hope is to become known worldwide and internationally, in hopes to help while healing because it’s a constant battle and I want to be able to live not just survive, you can be blessed and mentally not understand just how much but you simply being able to breath is a blessing, as you still have a chance and I wanna be one of the ones that never gave up. I want my story to be heard walking with the passion in my heart and a story that backs it so the artistry can easily become something like magic. I tend to enjoy the process and applaud the journey at this point.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part about being an artist, is the process and being able to finally hear or see the finished product. You have to be your own fan first, be your own hype man if you don’t have one and then release and have people listen to that project. Once it sounds good to you and it’s put together right, trust the intuition because the world needs us because we all deserve to be heard, felt and seen.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A story of resilience, during my Senior year of high school I had been in an altercation in school that actually ended up getting me a 5000$ scholarship and a beat the odds award. After the fight I went to an alternative school and the teacher there was someone who took interest in me as I was drawing and picture of a 2 sided perspective, one side was sunshine, flowers and clear skies and the other side was dark, stormy with lighting and thunder. What I felt at the time was reflection but also an understand happiness for me comes from the pain, comes from the storm because the story is built there and no one can truly knock yours, when you realize you’ve been there. Where you wanna be is location in any life but to get there is mindset, it’s mind over matter so working on you is a must.
I ended up talking about my story in depth for the first time and as shy as I still was, finally was learning to open up and this was at 17 years old. I credit the alternative school teacher and my counselor Ms. Esbolt who helped me write up my story for the first time to send it to the Children defense fund who I won the award from in 2015, which also involved presenting a speech at my ceremony and a limo picking me up on the south side of Minneapolis, my first time in a limo. I’ve since learned people notice you for who you are in the world to them, it’s your potential and you may look at it strictly from what you’ve been through until you change your mindset and learn to embrace the journey rightfully because trauma responses and defense mechanisms are enabled when it comes to this life of resilience. I’ve come to terms with a lot in life which I’ve had to, so using my mind for the right reasons is crucial and my intentions are to leave my mark within the culture on the world, the music will forever speak all I need is an ear to listen and just like my aura people will gravitate.
