We were lucky to catch up with TeKeisha Wade recently and have shared our conversation below.
TeKeisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission-driven company was inspired by my relationship with Trauma, Abuse, & living in a Trauma Body.
My childhood experience and being in a Narcissistic Abuse relationship is what drives my mission. I navigated through darkness and survival mode for over 20 years. This caused me to remain silent, and not know the power of my voice.
I lived a life of anxiety, depression, fear, and being in survival mode. I felt like I walked in life unconsciously. I did not understand my purpose, my relationship with GOD, and being aware of a healthy relationship with self. Growing up we understood abuse as being physically harmed and prayer was the only way out including what is done in the house, stays in the house.
We did not receive any education about any other forms of abuse and the effects of trauma. I prayed and GOD built my platform level by level and step by step. This is how Open Arms Connection not only became a business but a Ministry.
My story was set apart to develop a mission of ministry. My goal is to reach as many individuals by providing awareness and education about narcissistic abuse (a form of emotional abuse), mental abuse, and the effects of psychological abuse.
My story is also to provide validation and support to survivors. I am very passionate about promoting healing and recovery. Words cannot express. I seek to empower individuals to break their silence and build a healthy relationship with self.
TeKeisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Coach TeKeisha Wade. I am an International Certified Life Coach, Certified Trauma Recovery Coach Trainer, Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Specialist, and CEO of Open Arms Connection, LLC.
One day at work, one of my co-workers stated, “You must be some kind of Life Coach.” This stayed on my mind for years after. It prompted me to reach out to a Branding/Image Consultant. Before we moved on to start building my brand/business, she asked me to pray and ask GOD to reveal my purpose. Before bed, I immediately started to pray and all of a sudden I saw a translucent figure coming toward my face. I immediately called my coach to provide the details. I then discovered that GOD wanted me to help men; specifically, men like my dad. This moved me to enroll in a Life Coaching academy. I successfully graduated and as GOD moved, I became a Godly woman who wore many hats of purpose.
I want my followers, potential clients, and survivors to know there is light in the darkness. They can too rebuild and build healthy relationships with the choice of healing.
I provide classes, created courses, journals, books, magazines, and life coaching services to help clients move in their healing journey and purpose. I am proud of my “Yes” to GOD.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the unhealthy patterns of my childhood and adulthood.
I had to unlearn people-pleasing, fear of conflict, perfectionism, and sacrificing myself. The story behind it was an experience I had when I moved back home from Texas. I woke up one morning out of body. I had blurred vision with anxiety and depression. I was unable to tolerate light and it felt like a spiritual death.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One day I decided to move to Minnesota. This is when my journey of abstinence to clear any mental and emotional residue began. I furthered my career in HealthCare and the continuous building of my brand, my company. Most days I felt like I was walking in the dark. What caused me to push, push, push, and push, I envisioned a mountain and I can feel myself climbing up the mountain.
At home, I started to look up Counselors and Psychiatrists. I now see a Counselor every week to stay present and work through my past trauma.
