We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tekeisha Bledsoe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tekeisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Fresh out of college, my husband and I had what you would call “bad” credit. We could not get approved for a home or car after moving back to St. Louis. After paying money to 3 other companies to help increase our credit with no luck, I told my husband that we should try this on our own. He ordered books, we did research and everything we could and was able to increase our scores in 3 months. We then purchased our first home and the mortgage company we went through offered to send us a few clients to increase their credit. After we helped them, we developed a partnership and grew from there.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We have been in business now for 6 1/2 years. We really thrive on being that help for others that we didn’t have when we were in debt. We are very reachable, we let our clients text, call, email, visit, whatever they need to be sure they are on the right path. We have partnered with many realtors, mortgage companies, credit card companies, credit monitoring companies, attorneys, and more to be sure we are providing the best service and that our clients are ultimately reaching their goals once their credit scores are high enough.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media if pretty important these days. My advice would be to focus on no more than two at a time. Since you can easily post on IG and it will integrate with Facebook automatically, that was easy for me. In the beginning I did lives and posted videos often of myself or Thomas giving out free credit information, informing everyone of new credit laws, and also, did give aways/drawings every now and then. We also posted testimonials of clients, posted score increases, and posted credit tips. On top of posting business related content, I’ve noticed that Your audience likes to see a little of your personal life as well. The more you be yourself on social media, the more your audience can relate to you. Following those easy steps is how I really gained a very good authentic Social media audience.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A few years back, I woke up to calls and messages about someone talking bad about our company in a Facebook group. They even went to my business page a left a bad review which caused a few others to chime in. We never had those individuals as clients, nor did we even know who they were. Some of our current and previous clients tried to defend our character and morals, but it wasn’t working. I desperately tried to reach out to those individuals, and one young lady actually gave me a call. After speaking with her, I found out that another company in another state was operating under the same business name as us and had very bad business tactics. She was getting their money and not doing any work. I was able to reach that company and threaten to file a lawsuit, and they then changed their name. To show that we really care about the community and helping others, we reached out to the ones complaining about the other company, explained that we are two different businesses and offered to fix their credit free of charge. They couldn’t believe, but in the end we’re very satisfied with the results our company gave them. That situation taught me about being trademarked and branding everything. I wouldn’t let it stop us, but found a way to please clients of another company which in return made us a hit in that same Facebook group that tried to pin a bad name on us.
