We were lucky to catch up with Tejai Moore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tejai thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’ve been hands-on with the creative side of my music since around 2002. At the time, I was in high school in Germany, and we were figuring things out ourselves. We had a Roland Fantom X keyboard in the basement of my ex-groupmate’s mom’s house. We built a recording booth with a blanket around the mic and just dove in. Nobody taught me. We learned the entire process through pure trial and error.
That experience laid the foundation for me to become the songwriter, producer, and engineer I am today, both for myself and for others. Looking back, sure, I could’ve gone to school to speed things up. But I also believe that because I didn’t learn “by the book,” I developed a sound and vibe that’s uniquely my own.
In my opinion, all of the skills: writing, producing, engineering are essential, especially in today’s music landscape. The biggest obstacle early on was the lack of guidance; when no one is teaching you, trial and error becomes the teacher. But I’m grateful for that process, because it shaped not only my skill set but also my ability to now be that resource for others. I also believe that I will never know it all, so I lean on God in Faith and I continue to be a student in my journey as well. I study and research a lot.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
At my core, I am a storyteller, whether that is through lyrics, beats, or the moments my work helps create for others.
I am Tejai Moore, a platinum producer, songwriter, Recording Academy member, and creative entrepreneur with over 227 million streams worldwide on songs I have co written or co produced. I have been passionate about making music since the early 2000s, starting back in high school in Germany where I taught myself how to produce, write, and engineer music from scratch.
That spirit of hands-on creativity turned into a career where I now collaborate across markets and genres, from the United States to Germany to China to UK, from Pop to Hip Hop to R&B to Afrobeats/Afroswing. I have written and produced for major artists, including contributing to platinum certified projects like D-Block Europe’s PTSD album which is one of the most known Rap albums in UK. Separately, in the China market, I have also had the honor of seeing remixes I have been part of, such as 最美的期待 (Tejai Moore Remix) 精华版 by NZBZ, resonate with millions on platforms like Douyin, a chinese alternative to Tik Tok. I also worked on another record that I co-wrote for NZBZ. Raz-B (of B2K) and I co-wrote that record together.
I also work directly with clients through the amazing platform Songfinch, creating custom songs that help people tell their life stories and celebrate meaningful moments through music.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend authenticity with versatility. My creative journey was not by the book, and that helped me develop a sound and approach that are uniquely mine. I believe in building authentic connections, whether with listeners, clients, or fellow creatives, and I aim to bring that intention to everything I do.
I am most proud of the way my work impacts lives, whether it is helping someone tell their love story through a custom song, seeing a fan moved to tears by a track, or watching millions connect with music I have helped create. At the heart of it all is Purpose, Calling, my faith in God, love, and intention, and that is what I want anyone who engages with my work to experience and recognize.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media was a gradual, authentic process rather than a quick strategy. Early on, I focused on sharing my creative journey transparently; the ups, the downs, and everything in between. I think people connect most when you’re genuine and let them see your growth over time.
I want to be real and transparent: I don’t have a big following online. The songs I’ve been a part of have millions of streams, and the artists I’ve worked with have millions of fans, but many times that doesn’t translate into followers for me personally. That used to bother me, but now I understand it differently. I believe that as long as God knows, He will make sure the right people know.
So, I never believed that having the biggest following on social media is necessary to be successful or to be part of successful projects. You can have zero followers and still be successful. It’s about the quality of your work, the relationships you build, and staying true to your Purpose.
For those just starting out, my biggest advice is to focus on being real and consistent rather than chasing trends or follower counts. Create products and content in your lane that feels true to your story and your craft. Engage with your audience meaningfully. Don’t just broadcast, but listen and respond. And remember, growth takes time, so patience is key.
Social media is a tool to build relationships and community. If you approach it with that mindset, the audience will come, and they’ll stick around for the journey. And if they don’t, that doesn’t mean you can’t win.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My Faith in God, in Jesus Christ. My Calling. My Purpose. My Children, Harmonee and Ariyon.
