I had the pleasure of coaching the owner of Miss MaeYams, Samirah. She had a dream to share her love for food with the world. Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff and it’s a Small Stuff by Dr. Richard Carlson, was a gift from a dear friend, Sharon. She would often remark that I needed to chill, and this book helped emphasize that point. A short, but impactful read was a reminder to not sweat the small stuff, things that don’t matter, and things we cannot control.
This book was intended to help us reduce stress and live a life of peace and tranquility. Practical strategies are shared for handling everyday challenges with a calm and positive mindset.
Dr. Carlson emphasizes the importance of shifting our perspective, practicing gratitude, letting go of perfectionism, and not allowing minor annoyances to take over one’s emotions.
This is a must-read for those who tend to take life a little too seriously.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
One of my favorite quotes, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” by Dr. Maya Angelou helps to summarize my advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale.
We must maintain an awareness that we are working with people who require empathy and respect. We must “Lead with C.A.R.E. When we lead with Compassion, Self-awareness, Resilience, and Empathy, we create an environment that fosters trust, collaboration, and personal growth. Our workshop on Leading with C.A.R.E. equips participants with an understanding of the importance of developing social awareness impacting their personal and professional relationships. Ultimately, leading with Compassion, Self-awareness, Resilience, and Empathy transforms communities and lives, creating a more connected and purpose-driven world.
