We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Te’Erra Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Te’Erra, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to put out unique fashion that will display the extension of my creative mind. I want everyone to feel like they have a piece of my mind and soul when they are wearing garments I created by hand. My purpose in doing so is to send an uplifting spark to someones day each time they put an item on. The second part of my mission is to provide resources to help others get the opportunity to do the same, by helping them brand their logos/saying on garments. I want everyone to get the chance of getting that spark or giving that spark to someone else when they wear their creativity on their clothing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve been writing poetry since I was 10 years old. It was an outlet for me to express emotions I built up from being bullied. However I never shared any of my writing except with my best friend who encouraged me to keep writing. As I got older I got more into learning to put my poems together to publish my first book. I self-published my first book, A Writers Ambition in 2010, those were a collection of poems I wrote all through my teen to mid 20 years. Before I self-published my second book iJusWannaWrite in 2020 I became more open minded about performing my poetry at open mics. Being an introvert this was not an easy thing to do, but eventually I stepped outside of my fear enough to start performing regularly at different venues in Cleveland, OH. Upon getting an amazing opportunity to perform at the House of Blues, I started to invest in doing merch to sell tickets. I took a logo I had made and put them onto t-shirts for supporters to have in exchange for buying a ticket. Those went well and eventually that itch I had for fashion as a kid started to develop again. My best friend and I would make tye dye and painted shirts as kids to try and create our own trends. Fashion/Crafting has always been an extension of my creative mind. This was another outlet to express my passion without speaking words or writing out my emotions. As I looked deeper into my crafting abilities I started to get more interest from business owners, bands, artist, etc wanting me to help them brand their logos and sayings on shirts. This made me extremely happy to help other take pride in what they display on their shirts, hoodies, jackets, etc. So Ladee Po3t Brand became not only a way for me to express my creativity on clothing, but it also became a hub for others to do the same. I currently offer services to place business logos/saying onto T shirts, Hoodies, Sweats, Etc. Soon I am going to expand into embroidery and screen printing services as well.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Mostly my audience has come from performing poetry, from poetry I was able to not only get supporters but also clients. Word of mouth brought new followers to my social pages to receive work or support pieces I have put out for sell under my brand.
Advice to those starting their social media journey, always mention your social media tags anytime you have the attention of a room full of people. Ask others for their social media and follow then for a follow back. Invest into learning the proper hashtags to use to gain new followers online who are interested in those categories.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients have come from word of mouth through customers who have had a great experience with me.
