We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Teerra. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Teerra below.
Teerra, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
It all started with a feeling — not a business plan. I just knew I wanted to help women heal and learn to put themselves first again. I wrote everything down: names, ideas, color palettes, and that’s how Put Her First was born.
From there, I began researching everything — business licensing, coaching certifications, and how to build my brand online. I taught myself how to design, market, and manage it all. I built my first website on Canva, created my logo, designed my client forms, and launched my first coaching program, Healing with Teerra.
There were sleepless nights and trial-and-error moments, but I stayed consistent. Launch day wasn’t glamorous — it was just me, my laptop, and faith. I hit “publish” and trusted that it would reach who it was meant for.
That’s really how it began — with purpose, persistence, and a promise to show up for the woman I was becoming.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Teerra Monae, and I’m the founder of Put Her First — a faith-based, empowerment-driven coaching brand created to help women heal, rebuild, and rediscover themselves after trauma or heartbreak. I’m also an ordained officiant, mentor, and creator of Healing with Teerra, my signature life coaching experience designed to guide women back to wholeness, clarity, and self-love.
My journey into this field came from my own personal transformation. I went through a season where I had to completely rebuild my life from the ground up — emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. That experience birthed my passion for helping other women who are also trying to find their footing again. I didn’t just want to coach; I wanted to create a safe space where healing felt luxurious, empowering, and deeply personal.
Through Put Her First, I offer one-on-one coaching, group mentorship, self-development eBooks, empowerment workshops, and speaking engagements that focus on identity, confidence, and emotional healing. I also officiate weddings, write vows, and provide marriage guidance — because I believe love and healing can coexist beautifully when built on truth and intention.
What sets my brand apart is the authenticity behind it. I’m not teaching theory; I’m teaching transformation through experience. I’m transparent about the lessons I’ve lived through — the heartbreak, the growth, the rebuilding. My clients trust me because they see themselves in my story. I merge luxury, spirituality, and emotional depth — helping women not only heal but evolve into their highest version.
What I’m most proud of is seeing the impact — watching women walk away from pain and step into purpose. Every testimonial, every message that says, “You helped me see my worth again,” reminds me why I started.
At its core, Put Her First is more than a brand — it’s a movement. I want women to know that prioritizing themselves isn’t selfish, it’s sacred. When you heal, you don’t just change your life — you change generations.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There was a season in my life when everything seemed to fall apart — my relationship, my finances, and my confidence. I remember sitting alone one night, realizing that I had two choices: stay broken or rebuild. That moment changed everything.
I started from nothing — no clear direction, just faith and determination. I was creating my brand, Put Her First, while healing myself in the process. Some days I cried while working on my website; other days, I encouraged other women even when I needed the same encouragement.
It taught me that resilience isn’t about being fearless — it’s about showing up, even when you’re scared, tired, or unsure. Every obstacle became a lesson, and every setback shaped my strength. Looking back, I realize I didn’t build my business from comfort — I built it from courage.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was believing that I had to be strong all the time. For a long time, I equated strength with silence — thinking that if I didn’t show pain, I was winning. I carried that mindset for years, smiling through heartbreak, disappointment, and exhaustion because I didn’t want anyone to see me vulnerable.
But that version of strength was slowly breaking me. It wasn’t until I hit a point where pretending became too heavy that I learned the power of softness. I realized healing required honesty — with myself and with others. It was okay to rest, to cry, to say, “I need help.”
Unlearning that “strong means silent” mindset changed everything for me personally and professionally. Now, I teach women that real strength is in allowing yourself to feel and still choose to move forward. Vulnerability isn’t weakness — it’s the doorway to freedom
