We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Teemaree a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Teemaree thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?

There were two times I got my first job in this field of personal growth, wellness, and transformation. The first, was when I personally took on the job of transforming myself. I had so many things I wanted to accomplish and was so far from them. Without resources or support changing myself felt monumental and yet I had to say yes. Yes to change, yes to bettering myself against all odds. Being my own first client was my first job in this industry. My second first was many years after. I had a successful career in the entertainment industry (my childhood dream) when the love for personal transformation that I had invested in, carried on, and helped people with throughout the years called to me in a way that terrified me. It meant really starting my own business, putting myself out there in this industry publicly, and essentially changing my entire life. It was a truly pivotal moment. On the one hand, I was at the height of my entertainment career. I had a full team representing me, I was going on auditions regularly and being cast. But on the other hand, I had discovered that helping people live their best lives was my calling. I was drawn to it so deeply. So, I laid down my old life to pick this one up full time. I still remember the incredible mix of sadness and joy as I quit the entertainment industry and started my coaching business. Taking this step was bold, scary, exciting, and a big risk but I am so happy that I did it. It wasn’t easy but it was necessary for me to be here now, living my dream life and helping others do the same.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Tracy “Teemaree” Jacobsen. I’m a certified life, health, and spiritual coach, a best selling author, a healer, and an artist. Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?

When it came time for me to start my practice one of the biggest sources of fear I had was around the money. How can I make a career change? When will I make money and how? How can I afford to start my business? The struggle was REAL. I didn’t have savings, I couldn’t get a loan, I had no investors, and I didn’t have anyone in my life that could give me the money. So, I funded my practice by getting jobs to raise the money I would need. I also made sacrifices like not getting certain things I wanted, to then have money to use towards my business. Sometimes the sacrifices were small like not going crazy on groceries to have extra money to save. Sometimes the sacrifices were big, like living tiny in an RV for 4 years. Either way, it was worth it! It worked and everything I’ve gone through only gives me more to share with my clients. We all have things we can do. For some of us, it’s making that call and just asking the person we know to loan us capital. For others it’s forging our path against all odds. Either way, it can be done. By working other jobs to raise funds, saving money, and starting inexpensively, I was able to launch my practice years ago. You can bring your dream to life too.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?

If I could go back in time I would absolutely be in the same specialty and profession because I truly believe it chose me. Some of us have many gifts, some of us know at a young age that there is one thing we want to do with our lives. No matter what the case, we each have things that are very special to us. Things that light us up, give us joy, and fill our lives with meaning. Helping people live better lives with life, health, and spiritual coaching is my absolute passion. I not only provide and teach these success methods but I live them every day.
