We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tee Parker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tee below.
Tee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Honestly, this was something I said I would do back in 10th grade. I came up with the brand name while in college and sat on it for about 2-3 years. Funny story, it wasn’t until I was terminated from my job that I actually released the brand. Although that year I made a promise to myself that I would brainstorm and release some items before the end of 2019, once that happened, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to brainstorm and get all of the logistics straight while I had a plethora of time on my hands. The idea that had me most excited was me simply chasing my dreams, putting forth the effort to accomplish, and starting something I can build into an empire. I’m nowhere near there, but I aspire to be!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tyron, and I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana. I am somebody who would consider myself heavily ambitious. It’s been tattooed on me since the age of 16. I was always a kid who grew up knowing the goal was always to become financially free. This mindset led me to create my clothing brand “Thir$ty Hu$tle” in 2019. Of course the “hustle” part came from ambition. My name starts with a “T,” and I wanted something that correlates with “Hustle” but also portray a picture of the brand meaning, so I came up with “Thir$ty Hu$tle.” The slogan is “The Huffle That Never Quench!” I always say that if you’re a hustler and always on your grind, the brand is for you. Since 2019, I’ve come out with numerous products, ranging from t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, socks, letterman jackets, hats, keychains, enamel pins, etc. The things that set me apart from others would be the attention to detail with my graphics designs and the quality of things I stamp my logo on, from the apparel items down to the business cards. The main thing I’m proud of being a clothing brand owner is triumphing over the failures, shortcomings, and adversity to continue pushing the brand forward. I want my consumers to know that the core values of the brand are ambition, quality, and creativity. When you wear the brand, it’s a true representation and belief of just that.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I sell all of my items on my own platform/website, ThirstyHustle.com; there are no cons, in my opinion. The pros are being able to retrieve email and phone numbers from consumers to continue communicating with them for future releases.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my social media following by creating reels that inform the audience on popup shop setup, how to style my products, and creative promo videos. I’ve also done numerous free giveaways.
