We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tee Lonzo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tee , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
Some people don’t understand why I only have a passion for making music and nothing else. That’s my true desire besides being able to take care of my family.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an Hip Hop Artist/Musician from New Orleans named Tee Lonzo. My absolute passion is music! I’ve been making music for the past 4 years, trying to find my sound within in it. What got me started was listening to Soulja Boy’s “Pretty Boy Swag”, I just knew I could make a song like so. Honestly I still think I am on the path to finding my sound. This is a long journey/challenge I have been preparing for and putting my all into it by even creating War Ready Group which is my label. I am very proud to say my fans are in for a treat once “Growing Pains” my upcoming new release drops in September! Surprise Surprise as wellllll!!!! New clothing merch will be available coming this winter!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I would say to support more talented artists involved in music opposed to popularity. I’m not against as to what the society chooses I just wouldn’t mind seeing more talented artists becoming stars.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I graduated from Full Sail University with a bachelors in Recording Arts in 2019. I graduated high school in 2009. I was always think like had I attended Full Sail University in 2010 I would have started my musical journey years ago. It’s like hey I know what I know now for a reason so move accordingly to get to my destination and also built up resources to rely on that I didn’t know about right after high school.
