We caught up with the brilliant and insightful TEdra Z Knox a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

TEdra Z , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

Even while I was passionate about helping others recognize their difficulties, work together to find solutions that work best for them, and hold them accountable, I had no intention of starting a coaching practice. I had little knowledge of the coaching field, I knew certain coaches and supported and believed in them, but I didn’t truly think I could succeed in that field. One year, I saw that over the course of two to three months, a total of 5 to 6 people contacted me for assistance with their lives, careers, and businesses. It was normal for people to reach out, but the volume of people who did reach out to me was unusual. I began my examination by looking for a recurring thread among all the persons who sought my services. I didn’t have a plan for how I was going to use the feedback when I asked for it; I only knew there was something that needed to be thoroughly investigated. When I was finishing a session with my last client, I was asked for payment information, but since I didn’t have the right procedures and business in place at the time, I requested for a testimonial instead. When we hung up the phone, they called me coach, and that’s when the lightbulb went off. I was coaching and guiding them, I then started reaching coaching programs and became a Life Coach through Inspire Coaching University then I became a Credentialed Coach through the International Coaching Federation.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a wife, visionary, speaker, coach, and author. I operate in my purpose by guiding individuals to live a CROWNED life through spiritual and personal development. I help people live a life of alignment

If you catch me with a Bible in my hand, jewels in my heart, and a message in my mind, you will understand why people seek me to drop jewels of wisdom and knowledge. I am a conference speaker, training and seminar facilitator, panel moderator and panelist, and thought leader on personal, career,  and spiritual development topics. Whether I am speaking to a business crowd on professional growth or discussing personal development at a women’s event, I  break down complex problems into bite-sized information that the audience can understand and implement.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn comparisons in my life, work, and business. Comparison was the thing that stole my joy and prevented me from developing meaningful connections and curating authentic content. I neglected to take the time to develop my talents and abilities because I was too preoccupied with examining the reels and highlights of others. Comparison robbed me of the opportunities to create meaningful connections, collaborate, and celebrate with others. I couldn’t understand why people had less educational experience than me yet they were advancing in their careers further and faster. I couldn’t comprehend why certain people were invited to speak on stage and discuss topics I knew I was an expert in. When I took the time to understand that comparison was stopping me from fulfilling my CROWNED Life, it was positioning me to compromise my calling, I had to learn to unlearnt thoughts, habits, and beliefs that dismantled comparison and learn thoughts, habits, and beliefs that allowed destiny to manifest itself.
