We were lucky to catch up with Teddy Martin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Teddy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
All of my music I would say is meaningful. Each track has some kind of message for someone who maybe going through something, and it doesn’t even have to be bad, just going through anything positive or negative.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been a performer since I was very young. I use to dance in front of this very small mirror in my room, and just sing all of my favorite songs. Then as I got older I joined musicals at my school. Then I decided I wanted to get on a bigger stage. I began writing music, which I was pretty bad at when I first started. As time went on I got better, perfected my craft. I listened to how rappers wrote their rhymes to r&b singers singing a melody. From there I was being booked for different things like performing on NBC4 in my hometown, performing at a halftime show for a woman’s football game, performing at parades, doing a soundtrack for a indie horror film. I’ve always stuck to what I love, I’ve ventured, and done other things with things such as education.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want to continue to make music and perform it all over the world. I love education, and I would say that’s one thing driving my music journey is my ability to be an educator. One day I would love to have the abundance to make sure others don’t ever go with out when it comes to positive music and education.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s meeting the different kinds of people, and being able to relate to certain parts of their lives, and from that sometimes you make long life friends.
