We recently connected with Teayanni Ross and have shared our conversation below.
Teayanni, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Finding those key vendors can often be make or break for a brand. Can you talk to us about how you found your key vendors?
Research, research, and more research is required. A lot of the time manufactures are overseas and a few things you have to consider is sampling/ testing your potential product, the amount of time and money it takes to ship. I’ve went through several vendors over the years due to me finally finding the best quality products with the best prices and an immediate shipping option to the states. Not only was I able to find the best quality but I also consider the customer service, being that you are spending lots of money with these manufacturers or distributors it’s important that the customer service and communication is up to par as well.
Teayanni, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Crown Collection Hair originally came about while I was attending Alabama A&M University as an undergraduate student and I love having my hair done I pretty much wanted to be a hair done as they say. It makes me happy to make others feel good because when you look good you feel good. I offer high quality wigs, bundles, lace frontals, lace closures and several wig care products like lace glue, lace remover, edge bands as well as wig caps. It can be a struggle finding your own personal vendor (I know because I’ve been through several and wasted tons of money in search of the perfect hair source) I’ve made it easier for the girls and decided to start offering wholesale so all the hard work is done for you, you just have to place an order and your immediately ready to start your business. I’m most proud of how far I’ve came knowing that I’m forever a work in progress but to see the progression overtime with my brand has been amazing despite the trials and tribulations.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Simply by being authentic, I can’t stress that enough. Don’t compare yourself to the next brand even though you guys share the same niche. What makes your brand and your story different is what makes you stand out. The best thing for me about building an audience on social media is you have people watching you grow and that comes with flaws and all but they are pretty much growing alongside with you which is amazing to me. I always say to people that everything isn’t for everyone so you are going to lose followers in the process and that’s perfectly fine just don’t let that deter you from constantly growing/building your foundation and being consistent.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I sell hair online via Shopify. I love love love the platform! I can see pretty much everything like all transactions as well as see potential clients from all over, people checking out and etc. Shopify offers marketing options, funding options and just different options to help elevate your brand on a professional level which is extremely important. It makes my life so much easier!
