Tearra , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

As a teenage mom, Tearra wasn’t supposed to amount to anything. When HOPS Heart of Charity was founded, the focus was to be the voice for young women ensuring they never felt like a statistic.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

A wife, mother, and businesswoman, Tearra Dotson has a passion for Helping Other People Succeed. She understands wholly how difficult it is to balance the responsibilities of life. As a teenage mom and now mother of five, Tearra has experienced and overcame the adversity that teen parents often find insurmountable. A native of South Bend, IN, Tearra relocated to Indianapolis in 2008.  During this time, she obtained a B.S. in Business in 2012 and a Master’s in Science from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2014.

Tearra founded Helping Other People Succeed (H.O.P.S.) in 2012 to help others reach their full potential by providing resources of relevant consulting, coaching, and motivational speaking tailored towards gender and age groups of different companies. Personal life experiences have inspired Tearra to help people that undergo difficult life circumstances. She found that support and accountability are worth their weight in gold and many in her circle of influence rely on her for accountability and encouragement.

Under the HOPS umbrella, HOPS Heart of Charity (Non For Profit) was founded in January of 2021. H.O.P.S. Heart of Charity will use the “Who are You” workshop to guide scholars through a fun-filled program that begins with a self-assessment. The assessment will guide towards open discussions on self-esteem, dressing for success, S.M.A.R.T. goals, healthy boundaries regarding relationships, college prep/trade, spiritual guidance, navigating emotions, balancing schedules, and financial literacy.

Inspired by life experiences and education, H.O.P.S. understands the various struggles people go through. Founder Tearra Dotson is a certified Life Coach dedicated to inspiring and motivating. Over the years, she has grown both professionally and in knowledge from coaching and mentoring experiences. To expound more on her professional experience, Tearra currently serves as the Entrepreneur Program Faculty at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis where she is further expanding her “moniker” of H.O.P.S.

A strong reputation is built by honesty, trustworthiness, and results, along with customer service.  Without any that, your reputation will be damaged.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

Ensure your team possesses the same passion for the organization as you. It’s bigger than I but it’s WE, and everyone must be on board.
