We were lucky to catch up with Tearra Brownlee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tearra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I First Knew I Wanted To Follow A Creative Path Between The Ages Of 3-5 . Of Course At The Time I Didn’t Really Know The Depths Or What It Took To Be A Creative, But I Was Grateful Enough To Be Surrounded By People Who Did Know . They Were Also Able To See And Recognize My Potential And Gifts Before I Was Able To, To Lead Me And My Mind In The Right Direction, So When I Was Old Enough To Actually Make It A Profession I Knew Exactly What I Wanted Already Or Atleast Had An Idea Lol.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I Got Into The Business By Just Taking A Leap Of Faith . I Decided To Start Taking Me Wanting To Model More Seriously Back In 2016. I Got Into Model Training And Model Development. Those Helped Develop The Mindset , The Confidence And The Insight On What Having This As An Actual Career Would Be like. Also Craft Development ,Which Started The Foundation Of Me Becoming The Free-Lanced Model You See Today . Between The Time Of 2017-2018 I Graduated High School And Went Straight Into Cosmology School . I Also Had A Passion For Doing Hair Which Also Helped With Opportunities In My Modeling Career . From Hair Shows , To Getting To Network With Important People , To Meeting Photographers , Which Set Me Up For My Actual Career. I Worked , Went To School And Pursued My Career All At The Same Time . Now Between 2019- Present I Have Been In Two Magazine So Far , Music Videos , Featured Shoots , Fashion Shows ,Hair Shows Etc With The Help Of Being Consistent With Myself And My Craft.
In The Present Moment Of My Career As A Model , What Sets Me Apart From Everyone Else Is My Originality . Every Aspect Of My Pictures That Are Displayed All Come From Me Just Being Me , Which Makes The Art In It’s Self . All My Work Gives Out An Original Feel .
I Am Most Proud Of That Young Woman I Was That Started This Not Knowing Anything At The Age Of 16/17. All The Long Nights And Sacrifices I Made At The Start Of This Has Been All Worth It Now .
I Want My Potential Followers / Or Fans To Know That My Brand As Well As Myself Will Continue To Elevate And Grow To It’s Highest Heights ! Going Up From Here !
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The Most Rewarding Aspect , Is Strangers Supporting Your Art/ Craft . Also Gaining Opportunities From The Art That You Are Putting Out For The World To See!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I’m The Type To Want Everyone To Win But I Had To Learn That Not Everyone Wants To See You Genuinely See You Win ! No Matter Who It Is , Friends , Family Etc. Ive Been A Witness To People Not Being Able To Celebrate Me Because The Spotlight Wasnt On Them . It Helped Me Keep A More Open Mind About Whose In My Space Genuinely And Not Just Cause Of What I Do. The Real Will Always Show Face .
