We were lucky to catch up with Teagan Stewart recently and have shared our conversation below.
Teagan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my upcoming music video for my single “Boys Club” that releases January 31st. The song is about the pain you go through during a breakup where you have to untangle your life from your ex. It’s about being buried in memorabilia of years with someone who is now a stranger.
I made a scrapbook with real photos and ticket stubs for this music video, and every single prop used in this was a real item gifted to me from an ex. Sometimes it feels taboo to keep a box of letters or things like that from an ex, but I disagree. I think these experiences make us who we are and it’s a privilege to be loved like that.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an artist and songwriter originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico! I sing, play guitar, write songs for other people, write songs for myself, record, and create projects like sync songs and music videos. I’ve been on stage since I was 6 years old and have stayed on stage in many capacities— high school dance team, Model UN, stand up comedy, improv, and sketch comedy— but my first love is singing.
I also grew up watching every country concert at the oval amphitheater, and that’s where I got the country music bug. Nothing captured my imagination like the storytelling of country music. When I graduated college, I knew it was time to make the leap and go for my dreams.
In the past few years, I’ve racked up over a quarter of a million streams, released 3 co-directed music videos, and opened for artists like Dylan Wolfe and Matt Ferranti. And I’m just getting started!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Being on the journey as a creative is exhausting. It is also exhilarating, enlightening, and necessary. It feels like the only real “work” of my life. Any other job is just a means to an end and nothing matters more to me than the projects I’m working on. It doesn’t matter that there are peaks and valleys, a mountain of self doubt and litany of no’s and closed doors. Seeing your vision come to life will make it all worth it.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Something I’m still unlearning is the lie that you’re too old for the music industry. We’ve been sold the outdated and sexist idea that women basically expire at 26 or some ungodly youthful age. I spent so much of my early twenties terrified of getting another day older, and because of that, I wasted a lot of time paralyzed with fear and hyper focused on results that would tell me whether or not I had what it takes to make it. Instead, I should’ve trusted the process and not been afraid to get older. I would’ve spent more time practicing and less time worrying about things out of my control
