We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tea Sanders. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tea below.
Tea, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The name TeasBlvckBox was created based on a couple key things. All of my ventures first and foremost are an extension of myself “Tea”. The BlvckBox portion is figurative for the space that I had tucked myself away for so long. In some ways the space where I created to tunnel through the deepest parts of myself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Allow me to reintroduce myself! My name is Timiece “Tea” Sanders and I am the creative mind behind TeasBlvckBox based out of San Antonio, Texas.
Like any great story the main character must go through some type of rite. Mine is a never ending battle with depression.(Let’s start addressing the elephant in the room. There is enough of us that battle with these issues we could start a stampede.) I went through a rough time in my life where I only had my thoughts and a pad and pencil. I can honestly say my art has always been an anchor for me. After a while I found the need to pull myself from this current bout of depression. TeasBlvckBox was birthed from the want to share the loudest parts of me even in the silence.
My “Noire Pieces” are black based mosaic art that’s Rorschach Test inspired. I often keep them black and white to highlight the complexity of the piece and allow your mind to wonder. I also offer various monochromatic versions of select works as well. Being someone who is big on representation I strive to create a safe space to celebrate my culture and the things that make us dope in all aspects. My hope is that my creations inspire and empower each and every individual that looks upon them.
Last May I stepped out on faith and with the support if my circle I hosted my own Art Show debuting my work. The love and feedback I received opened a new world of opportunities to me. I have since been showcasing and selling my works and commissions at various events. There are some big projects coming up so make sure to follow me during this journey!
I want to take a moment to thank my circle for pushing me and encouraging me to share my talents and not hide them! If I could give some advice to a creative it would be, TAKE THAT LEAP!!! And build a community of like minds and even some wild cards around you to stretch you and make you uncomfortable with blending in!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I believe that every piece that I create is telling a story, each shape and curve is intricate and intentional like stitching on a cloth. My mission is to curate conversation around my art, whether it be in awe or in a heated debate I want to make you feel something. I want to spark conversations beyond the canvas and curate real life connections with like minded individuals.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
During my creative journey I find that the most rewarding part is seeing my work in someones home. Knowing that a part of me has a place in someones space is very intimate. When they take my work home it is as if they accept a part of me. Strangely enough when I see them smile and choose one of my creations it makes me feel like the first kid to get picked for dodgeball. It is a very rewarding and humbling experience I doubt I will ever get over!
