We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful TE- RAYE. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TE- below.
TE-, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in music when I was 7 years old. Girl groups were a huge factor in the music industry during my childhood so I begin mimicking these artists at a young age. When I wrote my first song at age 7 and then began performing it for family members their response egged me on to fully focus on making music a career.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a musical artist and songwriter from Atlanta, GA who values my gift and uses it to uplift my listeners. I love creating music about love, self worth and life’s adversities because we all go through trials and tribulations some point in our lives. That’s why when I write, I always look for YaH’s guidance to help tailor my messages because you never know how it may help someone.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
By no means is this journey easy. And honestly, I’m very happy and content with where I am today as an artist and respect the process. There’s different obstacles along the way and everyone measures success differently. Some of us get lost in transition but those who are true to themselves are the real winners in this musical journey. Also, I’ve never been the one to look at another person’s success or compare my success to another person’s because in the end I know that I’ll eventually have the same opportunity and know where my help comes from.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Absolutely. The importance and value of social media is the one thing that I should have invested in earlier. My obstacle is that I’m a very private person and tend to keep my personal affairs to myself. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work being an artist, since your listeners and followers are now invested in getting to know the artist.
