We were lucky to catch up with Tazz B recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tazz, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
Definitely…….with a name like Black & Unfiltered some people in the past have thought the worst of what our Podcast/Show is. Let’s be honest racial tension still exist so it’s been very common for people to mistakenly assume what Black & Unfiltered Entertainment is. We used to get a ton of disrespectful messages and comments on our FB page most were from people who never even listen to the show, they just saw the name and thought we was on some hateful race bashing type mess. Now don’t get me wrong if some foul mess is going on we definitely gonna speak on it but we don’t hate anyone. Might say F*** some crooked cops, might say F*** a crooked politician but we authentic with ours lol. I like to think it has taught us to stand strong on what we saying on our platform and be real with it.
Tazz, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those that don’t know I’m Tazz B aka The infamous one of The Black & Unfiltered Podcast/Radio Show. I am founder and CEO of Black & Unfiltered Entertainment which consists of myself, Darnelle aka Famous, Dustin aka Reign, Trey aka Teezy, Tevin aka Pooch Flair, Kurt aka Uncle Blo, Drumaine aka Tuccie and Nakevor aka P-Nut. We all came together as creative collective during the pandemic in 2020 started podcasting and haven’t looked back since. We like to consider ourselves an entertainment/comedy/hip hop music podcast we have our signature segments such as our Unfiltered Files which are downright ratchet and scandalous at times lol, Dumb A** Clips of the week, Blo-gic and our Question of the day. We also have branch off shows such as The B&U Famous Brand Business Spotlight where we tap in with business owners and entrepreneurs such as one we did Herb N Eden. We also have Live From The Underground where we tap in with dope rising hip hop and R&B Artist that you NEED on your playlist, we have connected with Artist from all over including California, Vegas, North Carolina and even the United Kingdom. Another thing we offer is radio play for artists that want to reach a new audience as our show is on the radio at One United Radio Network which is heard globally so any artist looking to get their music out there we do offer packages for that but be aware we do screen all music so only submit your best work. All in all we just want people to know we have a dope, funny, unapologetic, unfiltered vibe of a show and we are working towards other forms of content as well.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Simply supporting, sharing, reposting does a lot. We use social media daily 24/7 repost everything a celebrity posts but can have a friend or family member that’s trying to get a business or something creative going and won’t even like or share it…..that’s crazy to me. Like we live in that it’s not cool to support until it’s booming then it’s “oh yeah I always believed in you” oh you did?? Lol SUPPORT YA PEOPLE!!!! Also……STOP EXPECTING A DISCOUNT……
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Creating something that can change lives that’s what pushes us forward……..One of the dopest things you can attain is the ability to keep doing things that you love to do while being blessed to make a living from it too.
